The City is pleased to announce progress on the rebuilding effort since opening the Malibu Rebuild Center on Monday, March 10:

Initial Rebuild Appointments/Site Verification – 168 Initial visits / 33 Follow-up visits

Architectural Plan Review – 6 Pending / 4 Approved

Building Plan Check Submittal – 0 Received/ 0 Approved

Certificate of Occupancy – 0
After the Architectural Plan Review and approval, the property owner receives a Planning Entitlement – a Planning Department approval, typically for development or specified use, that states the project meet the City’s zoning requirements. If applicable, the Planning Entitlement allows the property owner to proceed to the building permit process. A Planning Entitlement is valid for a number of years, depending upon the type of entitlement.
The next step is to apply for a Building Plan Check to obtain a Construction Permit, allowing the property owner to begin construction. The final step is to complete inspections for a Certificate of Occupancy, allowing property owners to move in.
