NORTH CENTRAL OFFERING LOCAL CORRECTIONS OFFICER ACADEMY
North Central Michigan College is offering a great program opportunity this spring for individuals interested in a career in corrections.
To help answer the need for corrections deputies with the Michigan Sheriff's department, North Central will offer a Michigan Sheriff's Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC) Local Corrections Officer Academy from May 21- June 15, 2018. North Central Michigan College is an official site for the academy. This academy is open to newly hired deputies, as well as open to the public who have interest in becoming pre-service recruits. The academy is $750 tuition (optional four-week housing at North Central and optional meals at extra cost.) The outlook for northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula for jobs in corrections is very favorable. More

Cheboygan - The Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department is hosting a Medication Drive Thru Drop-off at McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus on Thursday, April 19 from 9am-1pm at the circle drive entrance next to the Emergency Department.
Petoskey - The City of Petoskey's Department of Public Safety is hosting a Medication Drive Thru Drop-off at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital on Tuesday, April 24 from 7am-4pm at the McLaren Northern Michigan administration entrance off of Mitchell Street, across from Johan's Bakery.
Items that will be collected include medications, needles, cell phones, shoes, eyeglasses, and hearing aids. Medications will be properly disposed of through an approved hazardous waste vendor and controlled substances will be handled by the Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department and the City of Petoskey's Department of Public Safety.

at 10:00am at Raven Hill Discovery Center for an introductory session and demonstration of 3D printing. Instructor, Josh Clements will take you through a discussion of what a 3D printer is, what it can do, the hardware and software needed, and a few tips to look for when choosing your first printer. LECTURE SERIES PRESENTS AN EVENING OF MAGICAL ENTERTAINMENT
North Central Michigan College's Lecture Series presents an evening of magical entertainment with local magician, Jania Taylor, Tuesday, April 17 at 7pm in the gymnasium in the Student and Community Resource Center on the Petoskey campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6pm.
Jania Taylor is an award-winning magician who has been classically trained in the art of prestidigitation. A graduate of the Chavez Studio of Magic, a college of manual dexterity and prestidigitation in Colon, Michigan, she is the third female in the history of the school to complete the course. She was the first female magician to do a solo tour for the Armed Forces Entertainment taking magic and comedy relief to our troops and families in Alaska. More

Terry and Patti Left of the Villager Pub, are hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, April 18 from 5pm-9pm to help with medical expenses for Lucas Alexander Warner, precious son of Keith and Melinda Warner. The Villager's bookkeeper, Lori Fels Silva, who has worked at the Villager for 38 years, is the proud grandma.
Lucas Alexander Warner was born on March 24. Lucas was born at only 28 weeks & weighed only 3lbs., 4oz. He will need to be in the NICU for at least 2.5 months.
Please join us on Wednesday, April 18 and help offset the family's medical costs.

MCLAREN NORTHERN MICHIGAN'S 28TH ANNUAL CHILDREN'S HEALTH FAIR
For 28 years, northern Michigan community agencies have been participating in the McLaren Northern Michigan Children's Health Fair. Taking place in April, the "Month of the Young Child," this free education focuses on events and activities for newborns to 12 year olds.
Providing a fun family atmosphere, the Children's Health Fair is an educational environment where parents can learn best practices to keep children healthy and safe. The event will be held from 10 am - 2 pm on

The 8th annual Instant Wine Cellar is scheduled for 6:30pm, Friday May 4th.
Join us at the Zoo Bar at Boyne Highlands for music, dancing, fun, and food. There will be plenty of wine and beer available for the raffle through attendees - all to raise money to bring FREE books to children in Emmet and Charlevoix counties! Entry to the event is $5 and either a ($20 value) bottle of wine or a six-pack of craft beer, or just $25 per person, and this year pre-registration is available online. CHARLEVOIX CAMEL CUP TAKES PLACE MAY 5TH
The popular Charlevoix Camel Cup is back for the third year and will take place on Saturday, May 5, from noon - 6:00pm.
The Camel Cup is a giant game-board race where the dice are rolled and the corresponding camel moves forward on the board. The camel that makes it to the end first wins and money is paid out to those betting on that camel. There are six races leading up to the final race where the six largest earning camels compete for the coveted Camel Cup.
All proceeds raised fund the Bridge Drop New Year's Eve celebration.
This year Charlevoix businesses, clubs or service groups can sponsor a camel for $200 and get $50 in "camel bucks" to use on the day of the event. This is a great team building opportunity for coworkers.
