Please Attend Last Kaffeeklatsch of the Year on May 3 with Rep. Mary Kunesh-Podein (DFL) District: 41B

Rep. Kunesh-Podein is Vice Chair of the Minnesota House Education Policy Committee and was visited by Ted Anderson and parent Sue Burke-Westacott during the Charter School Lobby Day at the Capitol in March. Ted and Sue discussed the charter school funding and other issues with her. We are thrilled that she accepted our invitation to attend our last Kaffeeklatsch of the year. We are excited to showcase our great school to her as an example of a successful and thriving public charter school. This is a great opportunity for all parents to meet a member of the Education Policy Committee and make your voices heard regarding school funding inequity and other issues concerning charter schools.

First-Ever Middle School Product Design Field Trip to BluDot in NE Minneapolis

On Wednesday, April 10, middle school students from Emma Carroll's art class visited  BluDot  furniture company in Northeast Minneapolis. The field trip was the culmination of a pilot product design project for 7th and 8th grade art students who had been learning about product design. Students first designed a chair using paper index cards, and then in teams developed a single, large scale prototype using heavy gauge cardboard supplied by BluDot. Based on their chair designs and effort in this project, 30 of the students were selected to go on a field trip to  BluDot . A senior BluDot product designer explained their product development process, and then evaluated each team's chair and shared feedback with the students. All chairs were unique, well-thought out, and reflected students' grasp of the design process. Many thanks to BluDot and Medora Danz, Senior VP, for hosting TCGIS students and to TCGIS teachers Emma Carroll and Maike Schmitt!
