Congratulations to Peabody Students!

Chloe Vail, Grade 7
Chloe was accepted to Governor’s School for the Arts. This is a huge accomplishment and honor as it is very competitive and hard to gain acceptance. Way to go Chloe!

Ronak Ailawadi, Grade 6
Ronak represented Peabody at the Virginia State Geography Bee in Richmond and finished 12th out of 100 participants. Great job Ronak!
Here they come! Les voilà!

Ten of our French friends from the Vauban middle school in Belfort, France will be attending classes with their grade 8 friends from April 18th to the 30th. The French students will be engaged with other classes and not just in French classes so the whole Peabody school can benefit from this cultural exchange.
They will get a full immersion as they will be hosted by Peabody families, some of whom are repeating this wonderful experience again this year! We can’t wait!
7th Grade Science Outing

The seventh grade took advantage of the good weather this week and travelled to the Birdwood range to learn how air pressure causes golf balls to turn left or right in flight. Just in time for The Masters!
Earth Day at Peabody!

Peabody School will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd. In preparation for the day, we are looking for the following items:

Did you know that plastic bottle caps are not recyclable?! 5th grade will be collecting CLEAN bottle caps (plastic only) of all colors and sizes for an Earth Day mural project. Please bring your clean plastic caps to 5th grade anytime before April 22 to be included in the mural!
Summer Camp Opportunities

  • Raspberry Pi Camp will he held the week of July 8th at Peabody for rising 6th-9th grade students. The goal of the Peabody Raspberry Pi Camp is to get someone over the initial hurdles of coding and become self sufficient for electronic projects in the future. A Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer that is a powerful learning tool for coding and electronics. If your student is interested in learning about robotics, coding, and circuitry and wants to learn real world coding and applications, this is the perfect summer camp for them. Go to to learn more and sign up.

  • Fine Arts Academy provides students from our region with an opportunity to spend time studying a field of art of their choice under the direction of highly qualified and engaging teachers. Registration for summer 2019 is now open! Rising 7th-12th grade students are invited to register for one of five camps, all of which will take place July 8-12, 2019, at Albemarle High School. Each camp will culminate in a public performance or display at a local venue.

  • Light House Studio has opened registration for their Summer Film Academy and would love to have some Peabody students! Here is a link to the list of workshops.
