Please Join IHLA and AHLA in our Tax Day of Action!

Earlier this year, the US House passed a bipartisan tax package that would extend the historic tax cuts that were created in 2017 for American businesses and workers. Now, the Senate may vote on the package as early as Monday, April 15 – Tax Day. Please join IHLA and AHLA in our Tax Day of Action – email your Senators and tell them to pass H.R. 7024!

Impact on the Lodging Industry 

• This legislation would temporarily extend 100% bonus depreciation for qualifying property and the inclusion of depreciation and amortization in business interest expense calculations.
• New research shows the impact of these provisions if enacted on hotels. For example, temporarily restoring bonus depreciation could mean more than $175,000 in additional tax relief on a $2.75 million kitchen update.
• Temporarily restoring the expanded business deduction could result in tens of thousands of dollars to upwards of millions of dollars in tax relief per property.
• This tax relief could help hotels confronting higher interest rates, higher costs, and economic uncertainty invest for the future in needed updates and additional staff.

What You Can Do 

Tell your Senators to pass the Bipartisan Tax Package and support the hotel industry and its workers. Please forward this email to your employees and colleagues and ask them to weigh in.
