HSC Client Reunited with Cousin in Tennessee
Imagine sitting in your apartment when two people break in and violently attack you. And you end up hospitalized due to the injuries you sustained. And you had no family or friends to comfort you. That is what happened to Eliazar. Upon being released from the hospital, Eliazar was afraid to return to his home and came to the Brian Garcia Welcome Center for help. HSC staff met with him and discovered he had a cousin in Tennesee who was willing to take him in. Upon verifying that Eliazar's cousin could provide a safe, stable place stay, HSC staff purchased a Greyhound bus ticket for his travel back to his cousin. Eliazar was extremely grateful for the opportunity to get back on his feet with the safety and support that he needed.
AZ State Tax Credit Extended to May 17th
With the extension of the tax filing deadline, it means there is still time to donate to the HSC and get a credit back on your 2020 State taxes. At the same time, you will be helping the HSC help people end their homelessness. People like Dan, who said during his journey back home last year: "I never dreamed this place could help so much...they turned my whole life around."

So if you haven't filed your taxes yet, your gift today to the HSC can reduce your tax liability by up to $400 for singles and up to $800 for couples filing jointly. On behalf of Dan and the 6,600 people we serve annually, thank you!

Episode 7 of
The McQuaid Mission
on the
SOCIAL TELEVISION NETWORK
In Episode 7, Jon Ehlinger, President of Garcia Family Foundation, talks about the roles that data and systems play in the mission to end homelessness in our community. Then Jerry Hirsch, Chairman of the Lodestar Foundation talks about the importance of collaboration amongst service providers and how the Human Services Campus has been a successful model that has been duplicated by other cities around the nation. Jerry also helps explain the differences between homelessness and poverty.

Also, with the searing heat around the corner, we explore what that really means for people who don't have a home. There’s a popular belief that many people experiencing homelessness leave town – but is that true? Our expert, Amy Schwabenlender breaks down the facts in the latest edition of McQuaid Mission Mythbusters and answers a question from the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in our Leader to Leader segment.
Episode 8 will be airing on Monday, April 26th! Click Here to View All Episodes.
