Discovery Music

This week, Discovery Band will sing Evidence for the opener and will close with I Lift My Hands. These are both familiar, and you will know them. Evidence is a song about all the ways God shows up in our lives, and all the evidence we have that He is real and alive. I Lift My Hands is a song of surrender and comfort and invites worshippers to rest in God's presence and abiding trust. Plus, it's okay to lift your hands to God. Really, we promise!

Lifelighter News

Lifelighters (Senior Ministries) will meet on Tuesday, April 21st at 11 A.M. in the Welcome Center. Peter Davies, a lawyer who is an Elder Affairs Specialist, will speak on Advanced Planning. Bring a sandwich and enjoy food and fellowship. All are invited! Need more information, contact Margaret Martin @434-237-0641.

Youth news

Junior youth and tiny tots will meet this week following the church service, and senior youth will meet at 5 PM this Sunday.

The youth is collecting items to assemble hygiene kits for Conference. A list of needed items can be found in the narthex. Kits will be assembled

on May 17th.

PRESCHOOL NEWS

Our Preschool is excited to announce our Annual Preschool Baskets Raffle and Art Show!! Come celebrate the creativity of our little artists and support their learning through this fun and meaningful fundraiser.

Art Show: On Thursday, April 23rd, beginning at 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM, enjoy a delightful display of artwork created by our preschoolers - bright, joyful pieces that reflect their imaginations and growth. There will also be hot dogs and pizza for sale for $4/each and a

create your own ice cream sundaes for $1/each.

Raffle Baskets: Each themed basket is filled to the brim with goodies, including:

Gardening Basket
Baking Basket
Movie Night Basket
Summer Fun Basket
A Night at Acorn Hill Lodge Basket
and so many more!!!

These baskets are on display in the Narthex. Tickets will be available on April 12th and April 19th, both before and after our church service. Every ticket supports our Preschool Ministry and the wonderful children we serve. Thank you for your generosity and for celebrating our young artists!

We need volunteers on Sunday afternoon to set up tables for the ART SHOW. If you can give us an hour or so, we will meet directly following the Service on Sunday in the Disciple Center!

UMC 2026 Mission Workweek

We will be forming a work team to partner with Interfaith Outreach on local homes in need of repairs. This week is scheduled for Monday, May 4th, through Friday, May 8th. No special skills are needed, and we are looking for people who can work any part of the week. Collection of Snacks for SOL Testing for Heritage High School

Heritage High School students will be taking the Standard of Learning tests beginning May 14th. Research has shown that hunger has a negative impact on students' concentration, memory, and test performance. The Mission Team will be collecting snack items in advance of the testing so that snacks will be available to students during the testing period. We will collect snack items at HUMC from April 8th through May 10th at the display in the Narthex.

Suggested items must be individually wrapped and can be:

breakfast bars
fig bars
granola bars
protein bars
pop tarts
trail mix
cheese and/or peanut butter crackers
individually wrapped lifesavers

Members Moved

We have two long-time members who have recently moved. Dick Neth and Randy Thrasher. The church directory has been updated, and their new addresses are correct in the App, (Church Directory). Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service. More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes).
