MISSED A LIFELINES?

From The Pastor's Desk...
Greetings in the name of our Lord!
"He is arisen and we shall arise - Give God the glory, Alleluia!" This was the refrain for the Easter day sermon, and it is a refrain that I hope every member of Lord of Life will take to heart. We very much need our Church family to "arise" and join in our ministries, whether via Zoom or in-person. Here are 3 ways you can do that:
1.) Property Work day, tomorrow, Saturday, April 17th - all hands on deck! It would be better to have 30 people each give a half hour and get to care for your Church home than to have 5 people give 3 hours. The same amount of work may be done, but it would be a lot more fun and then 25 more people would know the ins-and-outs of our building and grounds. A work-day is a time of serving God, sharing fellowship, and spiritual and physical health. We will be here from 8:30 to Noon - come and be blessed! Our goal is 30 people - will you help us?
2.) Member-Formation PoWeRSuRGe workshops - my goal is for 30% of our members attend this interactive workshop (558 X .30 = 167 people!). Every Christian is one day old, and at this point, each of us is a new member of a community that is re-forming itself during pandemic. This is my chance to get to know my flock and for us to bond as disciples and as Christian friends. There will be an optional 6 short videos that you can watch on YouTube beforehand, then the workshop will be 2 hours long. Choose one of these 4 times, and sign up by emailing the Church office:
-Sunday, May 2 following worship (with lunch provided),
-Wednesday May 12 from 6:30-8:30 on Zoom,
-Saturday May 22 from 10am-noon (brunch provided),
-Friday June 4 from 7:00-9:00pm (with dinner from 6:30-7:00).
Food will be eaten outside, and seating will be socially distanced for indoor workshops. More workshop slots will be added as 167 is an ambitious number - but an important one as I seek to get to know the needs and gifts of our community.
3.) Fellowship Events - here is a selection of many events which are relatively easy to host. We would need 2-4 people to offer to co-lead these - if we get zero volunteers, we do zero events. Maybe you've never led an event at Church - you are welcome to give it a try, and we promise that you will not be working alone! We have committees for fellowship, advertising/communication, property, and more to help guide and support you. If we get only 5 people attending, that is still a success and a blessing to them - and it's likely we'll get more than that. All dates, venues, and ideas are flexible. To offer to co-lead an event, contact the Church office. -Wednesday, May 5: Blessing of the Animals service and collection of used linens for local animal shelters -Sunday May 9: Mother-Daughter-Sister-Friend fashion show following worship -Sunday May 16: Group walk at Prickett's Mill Park before or after worship, then return to LoL for the Cookie Walk through the Fellowship Hall -Tuesday May 18: Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner or Mardi Gras celebration with "root beer tasting" for all ages -Thursday May 20: PEP (People Enjoying People) picnic with a serenade from the Grace Place students, followed by planning session for PEP 2021 calendar -Thursday May 27: Thanksgiving Dinner (outside, socially distanced) and making Gratitude Jars for the year ahead -Sunday May 30: Chili Cook-off. Will your batch be "meek and mild" or "tongues of fire"? Get samples of chili in the Fellowship hall, taste them outside, maybe vote for your favorite with coins and dollars that will feed the hungry? The planners can decide! -Sunday June 6: Church Property tours and LoL "fun facts" quiz. -Saturday June 7: After the 5pm service, Travel Photos Expo and international foods potluck (eating outside). Each household can bring 10 digital photos to share on the screen and tell about their travels or favorite moments. -Monday June 14: Belated Valentine's Date Night. Volunteer at Church to babysit for the evening or drop your kids for a fun time while you get take-out and chocolates. -Saturday June 19: Common Grounds coffee house/talent show following 5:00 worship service. -Sunday June 20: Father's Day concert - Serenade for Wildlife or JazzFest, or Lord of Life talent show -Wednesday, June 30: Ring in the 2nd half of 2021 with a potluck and "Dancin' Thru the Decades" - we will have 15 minutes of music from each decade so all generations can learn the Jitterbug or Electric Slide, then a blessing of "2021 part II," a countdown and ball drop at 8pm.
Shall we arise, to join in spiritual growth and fellowship and service?
Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn

The Grace Place
The children will continue to watch their caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies. They will have fun with the letters U and Y, create crafts using the color yellow, and they will classify objects for math. All of the children will play learning games with the number 10 and discover new sight words.
For social studies, we will celebrate Earth Day, talk about recycling, and answer the question, "How can we take care of our planet?"
Pastor Wen will continue teaching Chapel, and all of the classes will work on name writing, create crafts, and read books at library time.
On Thursday, April 22nd, the classes will participate in a Grace Place Picnic Day. The children will go outside, sit on a beach towel, and enjoy a delicious lunch. We are excited to have Pastor Wen join us!

Quilting Ministry:
A Message From Gloria Brosious
The Quilting Ministry is in need of fabric. We have completely exhausted our stash of donated fabric. This is a time when we are looking forward to Spring, and you might take stock of fabric for which you have no use. We certainly would appreciate any donation of fabric suited to our quilts.
We use cotton fabric in our quilts which we cut into squares that measure 11 inches by 11 inches. 48 of the squares are needed to make one quilt. Any amount of fabric is appreciated. We can find many ways to put together bright and colorful quilts from all of your donated fabric.
Donations of cotton fabric would be greatly appreciated. Should you find heavier fabric such as denim, we can use that for the market bags for Bridge of Peace. We seem to find uses for all of the donations.
In addition to fabric, we need used flat-sheets in good condition in all sizes for backing for the quilts. Also, Walmart sells new flat sheets individually for less than $7.00. We have found them to be of good quality.
Donated fabric and flat-sheets can be left by the quilting table display in the church Narthex. Please mark them, "For the Quilt Ministry."
The quilters have been busy and have completed over 40 quilts since bringing our last delivery to the collection center in November 2020. The quilter's closet was filled with finished quilts, and they are now boxed to allow room for more completed quilts and fabric donations.
The batting that we use within the quilts has been purchased with gift cards from church members who have Thrivent accounts. Thrivent offers monetary support for our ministry. Our thanks to all those who supported this ministry in any way! Our quilts have been shipped to 15 countries, and they are so appreciated by the recipients who receive them.
If you have any questions, please contact the Quilting Ministry leader, Gloria Brosious by email. A link is provided below.

Continuing Your Contributions
Your continuing financial support is essential to maintain the Ministries of Lord Of Life. Your envelopes can be mailed to the church (1 Winchester Court, Tabernacle, NJ 08088). Also, both Simply Giving and Tithe.ly remain in place. More information about these electronic ways to contribute can be found on the church's website. The link is below.
Despite these troubling COVID-19 times, the work of the church is going on. Pastor Wendolyn and our staff are actively engaged, and the need to pay bills and the mortgage continue. Prayerfully consider continuing with your regular contributions.
