This Sunday, April 20, 2025, will be Easter Sunday. Our scripture will be

St. John 20.1-18 and the sermon will be titled, Lives of Easter Faith.

We're hoping to see you this Sunday!

Newest HUMC Member

We are overjoyed to welcome Conner Asa Marshall into our church family with open hearts and loving arms. Connor joined by Profession of Faith on April 23, 2025. A native of Charlottesville, VA, Connor is a freshman at the University of Lynchburg, embarking on an exciting new chapter of his life. Beyond his academic pursuits, Conner is an accomplished swimmer with extensive competition experience. His dedication and discipline, both in and out of the pool, are truly inspiring,

As a community, we are deeply thankful for Connor's membership and look forward to walking alongside him in faith, fellowship, and friendship. Let's extend a warm welcome and show gratitude for his presence.

This is a reminder that if you have an event here in the Church, you are responsible for locking the door and turning off ALL lights, especially in the restrooms. Three steps, before you leave: 1. Lock all doors 2. Turn off all lights, including those in restrooms 3. Check the narthex, the welcome center, and the stairwells. We appreciate everyone’s effort in helping keep our church sustainable!

This week, we will open with a new song,Come, Jesus Come and the Easter traditional, Hallelujah. We hope you like the new song.

Our work week this year will be Monday, April 28th, through Friday, May 2nd. We need all skill levels in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, digging, etc. We need you if you are available to help for the entire week or any part of the week!

Please get in touch with the church office at 434-239-4291 to sign up for the times you can work. Financial donations will also be accepted for the

 purchase of supplies.

A big thank you to the congregation from the Mission Team for a successful SOL Snack collection. A total of 1,114 individually wrapped snacks and 350 individually wrapped mints have been delivered to Heritage High School. The school is grateful for your generosity and support of the HHS students as state testing begins.

Preschool

Activities

Our Annual Art Show was a huge success. We loved seeing so many friends and families come out to enjoy this special night. The children were so excited to find their artwork and show it off to their families. Thank you to everyone who donated to the silent auction and raffle baskets, and thank you for coming out to support HUM Preschool. Thank you to all the teachers, staff, and church members who worked so hard to make this event so amazing!

YOUTH NEWS

Our church youth have chosen to assemble hygiene kits for UMCOR as their mission project. These kits will be used for people in crisis, usually after a disaster. Each kit will include a hand towel, wash cloth, a comb, soap bar, toenail or fingernail clipper, a toothbrush, and adhesive bandages. You do not have to buy all seven items. If you choose to buy 5 washcloths or six bars of soap, they will all be used for the kits. You are not obligated to fill a whole kit. These items can be purchased at Dollar General for a dollar each. Please consider helping the youth by purchasing some items for them. A list of these items is in the narthex with more details. We will assemble in May so the kits can be delivered to annual conference.

Thank you for supporting our youth.

This Mother's Day, let's unite to honor and support foster mothers who love and care for children in need! The UMFS Office has asked us to fill six baskets with thoughtful gifts to celebrate these incredible women. The United Women of Faith will take on the joyful task of assembling these baskets, and we need YOUR generosity to make it happen!!

So we are inviting YOU, the congregation, to contribute by May 4th. Your donations will directly help us create beautiful, meaningful gift baskets to show our appreciation for foster mothers.

Gift Ideas Include: Gift Cards, Lotions, Coffee or Specialty Teas, Mugs or Tumblers, Bath Bombs or Scented Soaps, Candy, Books or Devotionals, Small live Plants, "Mom" Coloring Books for relaxation, Scented Candles or Tote Bags for daily use.

There will be a box in the church office for all donations. Thank You for

your participation.

EASTER EGG HUNT

Our junior youth (age 6 to 10) and tiny tots (age 1 to 5) are invited to an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 20, at 9 o’clock. We will have an Easter story, egg hunt, and breakfast. Tiny tots will find their eggs in the playground area, and we suggest they wear old shoes, as the playground has black rubber mulch. We will meet in the welcome center/tower room promptly at 9. Feel free to invite a friend.

Come and enjoy

Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service. . The Leadership Team has been taking care of this for the past year. More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes). More specific directions will be posted in the hospitality kitchen off the narthex. If you can help with hospitality this way, please click the link HERE. Thank you!
