United Way of Siouxland has been working with over 100 local nonprofit organizations to determine the current and anticipated needs of our community. Here is a brief summary.

SERVICES
There is a new fund providing $5,000 in short-term relief to small businesses (with 3 to 20 employees) suffering from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. Grant applications go live on Monday, April 20 at 2:00 PM CDT. Grants will be awarded weekly on a rapid and rolling basis until all funds have been disbursed.

Enhancing the quality of life for elders through education, planning and coordination of services. Videos on their Facebook page explain some of the current scams that affect all of us. During this time of isolation many people, including seniors, are lonely. Reach out and share a welcome hello.

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN)
is offering two webinars. They will share: SCAN’s COVID-19 policy agenda at the state and federal level, Tips to urge Congress to include kids and child care in economic stimulus packages, how we can continue to ensure candidates are prioritizing kids, & innovative ways to advocate from the safety of our homes. Open to the public.

Division of Iowa Community Action Agencies
has extended the application period for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through May 31, 2020. Families can apply for the Energy Assistance program at their
local community action agency
.
This program can help pay a portion of an eligible household's utility bill. Eligibility is based on household size and income. Community action agencies have other types of help available, such as food and clothing pantries, and other services.

Support Siouxland Soldiers
will hold a Drive –Thru Grocery Distribution for Veterans and Military Families April 29
th
from 6:00-7:00pm at: 1551 Indian Hills Dr. Ste. 102
|
Each child present, ages 1-18, will receive a breakfast sack and a lunch sack to be taken off-site for consumption.

This is open to anyone 18 and under.
