April 18, 2020
Fellow Parishioners,
I'm happy to share some positive news with you. The Archdiocese of Chicago became eligible for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) late on Friday, April 4, 2020. The Church of St. Mary, in following the directive and guidance of the Archdiocese, mobilized quickly to apply for the loan.
Yesterday, the Church of St. Mary received the PPP Stimulus funds from Wintrust Financial. This loan will allow the Church of St. Mary to continue to meet our payroll and employee benefit obligations for a period of 8 weeks. While we are still in very challenging times, this loan will allow the Church of St. Mary to continue to meet our payroll and employee benefit obligations for a period of 8 weeks. Father Mark, Rebecca Quackenbush, and the entire Parish Finance Council are all extremely pleased that this money was made available to parishes such as ours.
Please know that the Parish Finance Council is working very hard with Father Mark and Rebecca to be as financially diligent as possible. We are looking at every expense and budget items to be as responsible as we can be, while maintaining our parish services. All other expenses incurred, outside of the payroll and benefits covered by the PPP loan, are not covered by the loan. With no in-person church services, and the typical collections that accompany them way down, our financial challenges remain. Easter, similar to Christmas, is one of our biggest collections, with less than 50% of budget received thus far.
We need your help. Please be as generous as you can be with donations. You can mail them to the Parish Office, drop them off in the Parish Office mailbox, or give electronically via Give Central.
May God Bless each of us and our families during these difficult days.
Peace to all of you!!
Fred Marks
Parish Finance Council Chairman
