Thank You for Supporting the Peabody 2020 Campaign!

We have officially launched the Peabody 2020 campaign! We are hoping for 100% participation from all of our families as this will be critical to access other funding opportunities! Please check out the Capital Campaign site on our webpage. Please also reach out with questions and to share ideas about the Campaign. We hope you are as excited as we are about the new building addition and will consider making a gift to the Campaign!
Author Kentrell Martin visits Peabody

Returning guest author Kentrell Martin joined us for some engaging interactive readings of two of his books, Shelly Goes to the Zoo and Shelly's Outdoor Adventure. Peabody students learned a lot about American Sign Language, including about 20 different signs!

Did you know that there are dialects in ASL? According to Mr. Martin, people in the South sign more slowly than those in the north. Also, signs have some variation based on the regions where people live. We also learned that interpreters sign for overall meaning, not word for word, so interpreters must be knowledgeable about the subject maker they are interpreting and strive to avoid creating bias in their summaries.

We always look forward to seeing Mr. Martin. Learning more about Shelly's latest adventures and how to better communicate with the hearing-impaired made for a great morning!
Pop-Up Marketplace!

On April 25th, the 8th graders in Mrs. Funk's Entrepreneurship class will be hosting the first-ever Peabody Pop-Up Marketplace.

Our entrepreneurs are eager to share their products with you on the lower school ramp during morning drop-off from 8-8:30, lower school lunch and recess from 11:30-12:30, and middle school lunch and recess from 12:30-1:15.

You will have the opportunity to learn about uncommon solutions to common problems that student teams have devised during the course of the class. All items will be available for purchase until stock runs out! Items range in price from $1 -$10.

Keep an eye out for ads on the news and product posters around Peabody!
