Mary Magdalene Church is an inclusive church in the Catholic tradition where people from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to the Lord’s table. We strive to live the values that Jesus taught, to honor and respect each individual and to share the joy of God’s unconditional love in our community and beyond. | | |
~A Message from Rev. Celie~
Greetings!
A favorite Easter hymn sings about our unity with Christ: “made like Him, like Him we rise.” The Nicaraguan poet and priest Ernesto Cardenal puts it this way: “If one rises from the dead, we all rise from the dead.” This Easter, may our Lord’s resurrection be a sign of what God has promised in your own life, and the inheritance that is yours. This year has brought its wounds and sufferings— of war, of protest met with violence, of oppression; as well as the quiet griefs we each share with a few people only, or perhaps with no one except God. But the resurrection means that we shall be lifted from sadness, from despair, from failure, from loss. This is the deep truth guiding our days: we will rise from these seeming defeats, and find new life again… Life even more touched by grace than we knew it could be.
What a blessing it is to be here with you for my first Holy Week at Mary Magdalene! Thank you for the many ways you bring resurrection about in each other. It is an honor to be your priest.
Yours in Christ, and wishing you an Easter filled with wonder,
—Rev. Celie
