April 2 Daily Greeting

Dear Ones,

It’s Good Friday of Holy Week, as we continue to “Be Church Together” even as the church building is closed for gatherings. It is good to be with you, in the midst of this sacred time. Last night we had an intimate Maundy Thursday worship on Zoom as we began the three worship experiences of Holy Week, known as the Triduum.

Today you are invited to come to the church for a self-guided Good Friday meditation of the gospel reading and then are invited to watch, on YouTube, our recorded worship service (see details below). On Sunday, join us online for Easter morning worship that includes a Fabulous Family Easter Pageant featuring our talented Emmanuel families, as well as our 1:00 p.m. outdoor worship. Bring your lawn chair and golf umbrella and wear light clothing and sunscreen—it’s supposed to be approaching 80 degrees.

We have a plan to continue worshiping outdoors until we are able to have indoor worship, now that the weather has begun to warm up. Although this Sunday is supposed to reach almost 80 degrees, this is very unusual, so we will continue to meet at 1pm until the warm weather stabilizes.

Easter Sunday

April 4

A single recorded worship service including our Fabulous Family Easter Pageant will be available online.

We will have an Outdoor Worship at 1:00 p.m. followed by an Easter Egg Hunt !

On Wednesday afternoon, I was sitting in my office when the phone rang, and it was a reporter from the Daily Courier. She was looking for pastors to interview about Easter and was really happy that she had actually reached someone on the phone and not another answering machine! We talked for about 30 minutes and then she asked me to send a picture of myself, something “Eastery” with a Bible or something, a selfie would do.

So I got Mary to take a picture of me on my cell phone in front of the church doors for some nice color and emailed it to the paper.

And lo and behold, my picture is on the front page of the Courier this morning! Here is the article if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet. Maybe we will see some visitors at our outdoor worship on Sunday. Come early to help set up if you can; I am blessed to be Easter People with you!

A Bible verse for today:

25 It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.”
