Square Biz
¡Muy Delicioso! - In just their first two weeks open, Pancho's Taqueria has made enough burritos and tacos to line the streets of the Square. ok, maybe not that many, but they're creating quite a buzz around town and on Yelp, getting high scores for their authentic Mexican fare and great service.
 

Bear in the Square - Another new biz has opened in the Square, Big Bear Cafe & Espresso Bar is now open! Stop in soon to meet owner Donna Menna and see the newly remodeled space at 3 Eastern Ave. across from the town parking lot. Welcome to the Square Big Bear!


I Scream You Scream - Ron's Ice Cream is open! The shop has been remodeled with a new layout to better serve their customers. Dozens of ice cream connoisseurs have been spotted recently around the Square enjoying a scoop or two. With all of their amazing flavors, would you believe that their best-selling flavor is vanilla? 

Big Sale - Dedham Bike now has giant markdowns on bikes, clothing and accessories.  Don't wait - inventory is going fast!
 


Where in the World? Dedham Travel's Terry Strauss just got back from Tahiti where she plans many destination weddings. She's booking trips to Cuba, Iceland and all over Europe. Cool Specs - Looking for a new pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses? Leonard Shwom is your guy. You'll find him at   Gopen Optical, right next to the theatre. Fun facts: His family has been in this business since 1922 and he was the youngest person in Massachusetts history to be granted a dispensing optician's license in 1969!

Art Beat - The Dedham Square Artist Guild will host an opening reception for artists Mark Dooley & Fred Smith on Wed. 4/6 from 5-8 pm at Isabella Restaurant. Wine tastings, too.

Family Tree - The Dedham Public Library will hold a free Intro. to Genealogy workshop on Mon. 4/11.  DPL has a full calendar of free events, workshops and social gatherings including a Pinterest Club, a Garden Club, and Family Game Night among others. Click here for more info.

Calling All History Buffs - The Dedham Historical Society will host a guest lecture "Frederick Law Olmsted and the Dedham Connection" on Thurs. 4/21.

Support for Moms - Discover Music and Art is offering a free breastfeeding support group with Melanie Venuti, Board Certified Lactation Consultant. The group will meet on Wednesdays 10:15 -11:15am.
    
story time Time for a Story - Preschool Story Times are held at The Blue Bunny every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 am with a few short stories followed by a simple craft. The Dedham Public Library also hosts a drop-in story time for all ages at 10:30 am on Tuesdays at the Main Library and on Wednesdays at the Endicott Branch. All are welcome. Free!

live music Live Tunes - Live Tunes - Dedham Square Coffeehouse (formerly known as Paradise Café) has some of the Boston area's best up and coming musicians play in the Square every Friday and Saturday nights. Guess what? No cover charge! Click here for show schedule.

Community House Happenings: 
DCH summer The Dedham Community House has a chock-full schedule of classes and workshops this spring including Home Alone Safety, BLAST babysitting and Adult CPR/First Aid. Registration is ongoing for the April Vacation week program, swimming lessons, and summer camp.
Date Night - Upcoming Saturday Night Kids Club dates are 4/9, 5/21 & 6/11.  Enjoy a few kid-free hours!

Dedham Parent Time is back under the DCH umbrella. Programs, playtimes and social events for parents and kids up to age 6. A great way to connect with other parents and young kids

ramble A Dedham Tradition - The   Annual James Joyce Ramble, the most fun road race around, will be held on Sun. 4/24. The North Star Children's Ramble will be held earlier in the morning.

The Annual Town Wide Earth Day Cleanup will be on Sat. 4/30.
 

Green Thumb?  
The Dedham Grows program for both new and experienced gardeners is offered in partnership between the Town and Green City Growers. Fun, hands-on, organic gardening classes. Saturdays from 10-11am, April 16th-June 11th.

Music Notes - The Dedham School of Music has several events and workshops planned throughout the month at the Mother Brook Arts & Community Center.  Click here for the schedule. The MBACC also has a variety of creative classes and workshops for all ages. Check them out.
Save The Date
Flower Power - The Dedham Civic Pride Annual Gala will be held on Friday 5/6. Proceeds support their work to beautify the Square and the Town. A fun way to support a great organization.


Fair in the Square - The Annual Dedham Square College Fair & Block Party, organized by Dedham Square Circle and the Dedham Youth Commission, will be on Sunday 5/15 from 2-4 pm. 



Chalk It Up
- The Dedham Junior Women's Club is organizing a Sidewalk Chalk Arts Festival on Sat. 5/21 in Dedham Square.  More details on this cool new event in the next issue!
