"Webster Bank is committed to living up to the communities we serve," said Ann Meade, Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking at Webster Bank. We do this in part by supporting the Arc of Greater Plymouth, an organization that provides critical support for our developmentally challenged neighbors and their families. The people of Arc are true heroes in our community and we are honored to partner with them."

SVP Webster Bank

"Like the Arc of Greater Plymouth, Rockland Federal Credit Union is committed to making an impact in our local communities. Most recently we participated in the Trik or Trot 5K. It was inspiring to see the hard work of the Arc employees and volunteers coming together to present such a family-friendly, community-focused event. This is just one example of why we are proud to support such a dynamic organization."

Walmart Foundation Grant results

The ultimate goal of the Developing Partnerships/Enriching Lives and Communities Initiative at Archways Enterprises is to secure employment for capable people.

The objective is to provide paid training to adult interns who must be at least 22 years of age who are chronically unemployed or underemployed; in need of skills training; are intellectually or developmentally disabled which may include a physical disability. Paid internships have proven to create job opportunities and also helps identify work skills as well as those that need further development.

Caitlin McCafferty
Through the generosity of the Walmart Foundation, the Arc of Greater Plymouth received a $40,000 Grant from the Foundation to provide paid internships to individuals in the Employment division, Archways Enterprises.

The Grant provided 24 paid internships and to date 16 individuals have received paid employment positions.
Internships may not always lead to a job with that particular company but rather can be a cumulative effect of learning new skills that will eventually and purposely lead to permanent employment. It allows individuals to develop confidence, discover hidden talents and interests, gain experience in a work setting and experience personal growth.

Thank you to our Community and Business Partners who without your support none of this would be possible. Thank you Olive Garden, Accutrac, VERC Mobil, For Goodness Cakes Bake Shop, Plymouth Career Center, LiveLifeBelieve, South Shore YMCA, Old Colony YMCA, Mass Maritime, PAC-TV, South Shore Community Action Council, Kingston Library, Christ Church Thrift Shop, BID-Plymouth, Pilgrims Baseball League, Salvation Army, Kohl's, Spire Center, and St. Bonaventures Church.

Leadership Series New Graduates
For the past several years The Southeast Regional Office of DDS has been sponsoring a Regional Leadership Series entitled "Developing Leadership: A Personal Journey." The Leadership series is offered to staff members, parents, board members or consumers who have shown exceptional commitment to people with intellectual disabilities.  The Series consists of 15 full days of Leadership Development with various speakers and consultants. The series is theoretical as well as interactive. The Regional Leadership Series selects applicants from a pool of interested staff members, parents, board members or consumers who have shown exceptional commitment to people with intellectual disabilities from all of the Provider Agencies across the Southeast Region. This year The Arc is honored to have two of their staff selected for the 2015-2016 Series from among 40 applicants. Mae McNamara and Garrett Olson received their graduation certificates at a very moving ceremony held at Nemasket Group on Wednesday March 30th.
A quote from Mae
" Being part of the series felt uplifting.  It provided tools and knowledge from some respected people in the DDS field.  It has allowed me to be more mindful, conscientious, and excited to lead by example.  It confirmed we are part of something bigger and we work with the most wonderful people in the world! "
A quote from Garrett
"I was honored to be nominated and interviewed, however being accepted into the series and going through it has been an incredible experience! I have learned many things during the past few months that I hope will make me a better person and resource for the people I have the privilege of working with every day. It has confirmed to me that I want to keep doing what I do every day!"

Congratulations Mae and Garrett!
