On the Mezzanine
"Filigree Caldera," 2016,
fused glass, 10" diameter
April
" Caldera ," an exhibition of fused glass bowls by Marcie I. Tauber, will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from April 7-28, 2017. An opening reception to meet the artist will be held on Friday, April 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tauber's bowls are inspired by the cauldron-like depressions created by the inward collapse of a volcano, also known as calderas. In her studio, patterned glass is slumped (or collapsed) into deeper molds in a hot kiln. The result - a caldera. This form enables Tauber to tell a story on both the inside and outside surfaces of the bowl, and allows light to play an important part in the presentation.  To learn more, watch the Meet the Artist   video with Tauber.

The Mezzanine Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington.
