Call for Officials: 2017 National Championships
Field Hockey Canada has extended the application deadline for Officials at the 2017 National Championship Festival. You can apply to be an Umpire or Technical Official at the U15, U18 & U23 National Championships (male and female), which are all being held at Tamanawis Fields in Surrey from July 18th - 25th. This is a great opportunity for local Officials to be mentored on the pitch by experienced National and International level Officials.

2017 Boys & Girls Regional Program Tournaments
The Boys & Girls Train 2 Compete Regional Championships are being held from April 21st - 23rd at UBC's Wright Field. This is the first year of the U18 Boys Program and we are excited to see their talent on display this weekend.

The Boys & Girls Train 2 Train Regional Festivals are being held from May 5th - 7th at Tamanawis Fields in Surrey. This is a great event for our U15 athletes to demonstrate the skills and game knowledge that they have acquired throughout the Regional Program.

For information on both tournaments, including schedules and team lists,  visit the Trials and Tournaments page on our website.

VRC Jokers are hosting the "Just Because Party"  in order to bring the field hockey community together for a great social event, and to raise money for Field Hockey Canada! There are two bars, and a deck with some of the best views in the city, so in mid-June you can expect to hang out on the deck with a cold drink in hand, watching the sun set over Vancouver.

Canadian Men advance to World League Round 3
Congratulations to the Canadian Men's National team on advancing to the World League Semi-Finals (Round 3)! Team Canada were dominant throughout the tournament, winning all of their matches until the Final, when they lost 2-1 to Japan. However, the Final was basically moot as the top two teams of Round 2 automatically advanced to the next stage of the competition. For full results from World League Round 2,  visit the FIH Event Page .

Canada will now continue their quest for World Cup qualification at World League Round 3 in London from June 15th - 25th. Top finishers from Round 3 will advance to the 2018 World Cup being held in India. Round 3 is the same stage of the World League competition where Canada successfully qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games. Canada will compete in pool play against India, Netherlands, Pakistan and Scotland. For more information about World League Round 3 in London, visit the FIH Event Page.

Canadian Women finish 5th at World League Round 2
The Canadian Women's National team ended their World League campaign with a 5th place finish at Round 2. The team played some great hockey over the course of the test series and tournament, both held at Rutledge Field in West Vancouver, but ultimately came up a bit short in two pivotal games. Canada lost a very tight 1-0 pool match to Chile, meaning they finished second in their pool and had to go through Quarter-finals instead of advancing straight to the Semi-finals. In the Quarter-finals, Canada lost another close game to Belarus, 4-3, and were unable to finish top 2 and advance to Round 3. It was a heart-breaking way to bow out of contention, but the team can hold it's head high knowing that they played some good games on home turf and have surely inspired the next generation of Canadian field hockey players.

The Women's National team will now focus on preparing the Pan American Cup being held in Pennsylvania in August. This tournament serves as the team's final qualification opportunity for the 2018 World Cup in London, England.
