Marie-Claude Stockl
Spring is mud season (yikes), and also the season to look
forward to new opportunities, growth, and rebirth. Down the road from our farm in New York, our neighbors are foaling 20 thoroughbred broodmares. In a few short weeks, the show horses and polo ponies will come back from Aiken, Southern Pines, and Wellington, FL. Now is the time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the New England winters for a few more days, to plan and dream about the flurry of horse activities upon us.

With all that's ahead, I'll keep this letter short. Most importantly, let me bring your attention to new developments at E3A. Take a peak at our options to become certified and learn about great deals that are cost effective.

Scroll down. You don't want to miss the first E3A conference in Atlanta, GA in September! We just opened up the registration and I rushed to be the first one to register. It is easy. This says a lot coming from someone who has zero patience. It's the best $475 I spent this year for three days with horses and kindred spirits, including meals, in the serene setting of the Calvin Center near Atlanta, GA.

I can't wait to meet everyone. In the last 10 years I have been involved with E3A, I have come across the most amazing people, many of you virtually. This includes some of our board and committee members, who have been incredibly supportive, and aligned with our original goals to be a collaborative association.

We are growing steadily, with about 10 additional members each month. Welcome to our new members. We want to be there for you. Please contact me, or Margaret Wilson [email protected] directly with any question.

My dreams have come through with E3A, and I hope yours do too.

Onward and forward.

Trying to facilitate personal development workshops can be a complicated. Many of the topics that either come up during the workshop day or even the theme of your workshop has the potential to send participants down the psychotherapy road. How do you navigate this journey while staying in the present and moving forward, not backward?

This three-day arena class will cover ways to successfully create and set up your personal development workshops. It will help create themes for possible workshop titles. Equine Assisted Learning is very powerful and it is an art to keep participants from going too deep. If you aren't skilled in the way you ask debriefing questions, you may inadvertently head into the wrong pasture! This workshop will help you learn how to utilize the E3A Transformational Model, so you can stay in the correct paddock. You'll learn new horse activities designed especially for that context, how to modify existing horse exercises for this type of workshop, and how to facilitate and debrief exercises without ending up in "therapy land".

During this class we will help you learn how to plan a class start to finish. You can learn how to apply and practice E3A's facilitation approach to Personal Development & Wellbeing workshops. The new horse activities that were mentioned above were adapted to be used in Personal Development classes to help the participant learn new ways of moving forward. You will also learn ways to conduct debriefs appropriate for the Personal Development and Wellbeing model.  We will introduce you to a selection of various assessments, which you might use with your clients to promote growth and development.

Lastly, we plan on having many joyful moments during our three days together,
and watching the horses teach us the fine art of authenticity
.
