Southern Italy Mediterranean Coarse Sea Salt

 Harvested in the South of Italy, where they have been producing salt since 200 B.C.; Mediterranean Salt is known for its mild flavor and bright white crystals. It's naturally high in magnesium, which makes this a very high-quality salt.
Wine of the Month

Oxford Landing 2014 Chardonnay

Pale golden straw in color with vibrant green hues, this Chardonnay has lifted aromas of freshly ripe stone fruit with hints of grapefruit and lemon myrtle. Layers of flavour build across the palate that reflect the use of wild fermentation and ageing on yeast lees. The slightest hint of oak comes through as a hint of vanilla, highlighting the complexity derived from barrel matured reserve wine. The wine has a wonderfully even texture on the palate with balanced acidity offering a crisp, clean wine with persistent and tantalising mineral acidity. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Pairs perfectly with classic italian dishes like

Carol Firenze
          Carol Firenze loves olive oil!  Ask her family, friends and fans and they will say she is the best advertisement for her popular and cleverly written book, The Passionate Olive - 101 Things to do with Olive Oil, which is packed with history and how-to information about olive oil.  With enthusiasm and vivaciousness about this liquid gold, her desire is to educate others about the history, health benefits and beauty of olive oil.  That desire now extends to children in her latest charming coloring book, Cattivo Olivo & the Tree of Liquid Gold.
          Carol earned her Olive Oil Sommelier Certificate from IRVEA ((Research Institute for Excellence in Food) in Tuscany and her Olive Oil Consultant Certificate from the Italian Culinary Institute in New York. She is a former board member of the California Olive Oil Council and a frequent contributor to the Olive Oil Source and national magazines. She holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco. 
          A popular speaker, she lectures worldwide and hosts seasonal Olive Harvest Adventures in Tuscany, Umbria and California.
Bucatini all'Amatriciana

This is a classic Italian dish named after the town Amitrice in Abruzzi. 
Make dinner easy tonight and stop in after work and collect the ingredients for this dish with our NEW Grab and Go meal packages. These packages are ready to just grab, pay, and go home and cook!

  • -1 lb. Vita Sana Bucatini pasta
    -1 tbs. Chiquitita extra virgin olive oil
    -3 cloves of Vita Sana Riesling Marinated Garlic
    -1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
    -1/4 cup Oxford Landing Chardonnay
    -1/4 lb. Vita Sana Pancetta, thinly sliced
    -1.25 lbs. of Vita Sana San Marzano tomatoes*
    -1/2 - 1 1/2 tsp. Healthy Life Red Pepper Flakes (depending on your taste)
    -1/4 cup grated Pecorino Toscano cheese, or to your taste
In a large pan, cook pancetta over medium heat until crisp. Remove pancetta by straining and set aside. Leave fat in the pan. Add extra virgin olive oil, garlic, onion, and hot pepper flakes and cook until onions are tender. Add white wine and cook for 1 minute, then add San Marzano tomatoes* along with their juice. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes or until sauce thickens. In a separate pot cook the pasta in abundant, boiling salt water. Drain. Add the sauce and grated pecorino cheese. Serves four.
*Crush the San Marzano tomatoes over the pan in your hand, and then add.
Kiwi Sparkler

  • 1 oz- Peach Liqueur
  • 1/4 oz- Lime Juice, fresh squeezed
  • 1 large Kiwi- peeled and diced
  • 1 1/2 oz- Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz- Chardonnay
  • 1 oz- Club Soda
  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice and set aside.
  2. Place the peach liqueur, lime juice, and kiwi in a cocktail shaker and gently muddle until the kiwi releases its juice.
  3. Add the vodka and fill the shaker halfway with ice. Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosty. Strain into the prepared glass, add the sparkling wine, and gently stir to combine.

Compared to the  Roma tomato, San Marzano tomatoes are thinner and more pointed. The flesh is much thicker with fewer seeds, and the taste is stronger, sweeter and less acidic.

Pecorino Toscano
This semi-hard, Ewes milk cheese is smooth, with earthy, nutty sometimes a bit sweet and salt-foward flavor. Aged from 9-12 months, this beautiful rustic cheese is great for an appetizer, with savory olives, crusty bread and a good proscuitto. Also perfect alongside figs, honey and your favorite prosseco for dessert!
