The Gold Foundation announced today that Dr. Dinali Fernando of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Libertas Center for Human Rights will receive the 2018 Pearl Birnbaum Hurwitz Humanism in Healthcare Award for her groundbreaking work with survivors of torture and human rights violations. The Gold Foundation is also recognizing two nominees with honorable mentions.

On April 20, Babies Hospital Alumni Association bestowed its 2018 Distinguished Alumnus Award posthumously to Dr. Arnold Gold. (Babies Hospital is the former name of NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.) Sandra Gold, his wife and partner in the creation of the Gold Foundation, accepted the award on his behalf. Dr. Gold was a professor and pediatric neurologist at Columbia for more than 50 years and trained hundreds of medical students and residents.
