Cloud-Based Telemetry Processing?

Historically, ground systems for space telemetry and commanding have been developed on a mission-by-mission basis. Ground telemetry system designs were rarely reused across projects because reuse often required extensive changes in software, hardware, and firmware to meet new mission needs. A new generation of processing modules and systems using a cloud-based architecture will afford up to an order of magnitude in cost reduction and improved reliability and flexibility over present generation systems.

Roadmaps – Taking the Complexity Out of Today’s Complex Systems

Managing a complex system development being developed is extremely challenging and requires extensive coordination between the all stakeholders, technical teams, leadership and decision makers, operational support teams, and the customer/end users. Delivering complex systems capabilities into operations in a timely and efficient manner, requires a thorough understanding of each product/service teams planned deliverables, as well as the inter-dependencies for achieving integration, testing, deployment, and support milestones. It sounds like a daunting task, but bringing together streamlined processes, program management tools, and technology can address this challenge, and provide a management capability to plan, track, monitor, and execute their yearly executable and multi-year projected plans.
Understanding baseline management, having disciplined configuration/change control processes, mapping out key inter-dependencies between interfaces, and generating integrated tracking plans for phased deliverables, can breakdown the complexity and bring great efficiencies to the program management of a complex system development effort. Strong systems engineering processes supporting program managers can ensure greater success in a program and buy down risk tremendously for all stakeholders.

Chapter Participation at the 2019 Science Fairs
|
|
This March, Chesapeake Chapter volunteers again participated as independent sponsor judges at two of Maryland’s premier youth STEM events: The 51st Anne Arundel County Science Expo on March 9th and the 64th Baltimore County Science Fair on March 2nd. Our team of volunteers this year was comprised of ten members: George Anderson (ESEP), Bob Muth (ESEP), Thom Platt (ESEP), Christy Best, Peter Hoffensetz (CSEP), Danny Yue, Bob Koppelman, Jim Campbell (ASEP), Stephanie Miskiewicz (CSEP), and Clinton Hilliard (CSEP).
The entire Chesapeake Chapter judging team came away from both these events extremely impressed with the sophistication and level of effort observed with all the talented students. INCOSE CC’s Youth STEM Outreach chair Clinton Hilliard summed up this year’s participation in a statement he made prior to presenting awards on stage at the Baltimore Fair ceremony to fair attendees: “That while we professionals, educators, parents, and fair promoters have come here today to offer inspiration to these students, we find that it’s these students who have really inspired us.”
