Beyond Beauport

About The Book: Shannon Clarke raised a family and worked waterfront jobs in America's oldest seaport. Her childhood dream to become a sea captain is revived when her long-lost seafaring uncle Patrick visits with a salty tale of their maritime family ancestry of pirates and privateers. He shares recovered family letters and artifacts from the Golden Age of Piracy. They take to the sea in Patrick's brigantine to follow the siren song of their ancestors in quest of destiny, truth and treasure. The voyage is fraught with raw forces of nature, past traumas and present day sea robbers, as their talents and beliefs of family, identity and purpose are shaken to the core.

About The Author James Masciarelli:
Call me James, Giacomo, or Jim. In French class it was Jacques. Life experiences provide enormous material for my writing. Stories of transformation are central to my work and may live beyond my expiration date. Blue collar jobs paid for my education. I know work in grimy factories, machine shops, lumber yards, moving companies, hardware stores, heavy equipment, and golf courses. I also majored in psychology by day and worked the graveyard shift as a Psychiatric Nurse at a men's maximum security ward. My career spanned leadership roles in social work, human resources, executive search, strategy management, executive education, and corporate governance. Now I write fiction full-time. My creative wife Judi and I reside in Naples, Florida, and Gloucester, Massachusetts with our wise beagles, Lucy and Jenny.

In 2019 Marco Island Writers once again extend a heartfelt handshake and thank you for your membership and support. Membership entitles you to all the regular meetings, promotion of your books, short stories and poetry on the website, member rates to any event requiring admission, and reciprocity with Gulf Coast Writers to attend their meetings at their member rates.  One other advantage for our Members is The Members' Edition of the Newsletter which contains a special section with speaker handouts, tips, tricks and professional advice. Supporters and Guests also contribute and are given a Guest Edition Copy of our Newsletter, minus the handouts, tips, tricks and professional advice section. Thanks you to our Supporters and Guests!

Again in 2019, and with your support, we continue to move forward with our goals of encouragement and help to budding writers. We hope that, even if you can't attend every meeting, or serve on a committee, you know your participation has made a difference in the writing community. We continually strive to bring quality speakers and workshops to our members. MEMBERSHIP FOR 2019 IS NOW OVERDUE.
