Streamlined "One City. One Contract." process puts multiple brands under one contract when two or more hotels are needed
In what may be an industry first, Destination Madison and nearly a dozen Madison-area hotels have launched an innovative collaboration, creating a single contract for meeting professionals needing room blocks across more than one brand property. The "One City. One Contract." program eases the frustrations and complications that can arise when contracting with multiple properties for a large meeting or convention.
Working through Destination Madison, planners will sign one master contract that seamlessly stitches together multiple hotels, across multiple brands. The contract outlines terms like force majeure, indemnification, how cut-off dates are administered, and more. The hotels will issue a simple addendum to the contract that secures the client's guest room block, negotiated rates and concessions. Each addendum is the same format and term language.

Code of conduct
Since the beginning of the year my Board has been determined to adopt a "Code of Conduct" policy for conference attendees and exhibitors. The language of the policy ties into the association's values and attempts call out inappropriate behavior in advance of an uncomfortable situation. I'm wondering if any of my colleagues have addressed this issue and if so have you also 1) created a response checklist for association staff and 2) felt the need to consult with legal counsel?

Eliminate roadblocks to planning-integration transforms strategy into action
Scenario:
The executive director and membership team are seated at a conference table. They are hunched over laptops. The executive director is frowning. The membership manager looks like a deer in the headlights.
Executive Director:
These numbers are (pause) a surprise. Are you sure the report's correct?
Membership Manager:
Well, we haven't been able to pinpoint the exact number of members due to glitches in the AMS that we've been working to fix for a while. But yes, I think the five-year downturn is accurate. Even if the numbers are off by a member or two, there's no doubt about the direction of this trend.
Executive Director:
As I recall, our strategic plan includes a section of membership goals. How's your team doing on implementation?
Membership Manager shifts in her chair. She hesitates before responding.
