President's Message

Dear Members:
Evaluating colleges and taking tours with our youngest child has been, at times, horrifying. Dormitories and bathrooms have become "gender inclusive," removing the previous expectation of safety and security, especially for young women. Campus churches have been stripped of their religious symbols and replaced with spiritual centers. Academic rigor has been substituted for propaganda, environmental activism, feminism, cultural and gender identity. The faculty are all hard core lefties who "mentor" (i.e. indoctrinate) students with a "holistic" approach and limit speakers to those who share their ideology. To hear them talk, Obama is still the President!
What is a conservative to do? To start, government needs to get out of the business of financing higher education or insist that merit be the primary criteria for admittance. Diversity is not a substitute for discipline or achievement. Next, we can insist that our children not attend colleges that have abandoned Judeo-Christian values or a mission of academic excellence. We owe it to our children to try and make universities great again.

May God continue to bless us,

 Bonnie Jackson

In April, we welcome Laurie Cardoza-Moore. Laurie Cardoza-Moore is the founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN) and is a globally respected “go to” voice on the frontlines of the battle for the ideological, social, moral and religious mind of this generation. As Special Envoy to the United Nations for Human Rights and Anti-Semitism on behalf of 44 million Christians, to her leadership in statehouses through PJTN’s Anti-Semitism Awareness Resolution.
A home-schooling mother of five, Laurie’s original “wake-up call” was the discovery of anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, and anti-American content in her children’s textbooks. This revelation of the early seeds of indoctrination of America’s children began her quest almost 20 years ago to bring awareness and change through every avenue she could reach: Legislative, media, advocacy and the founding of PJTN in 2005 – literally born on her kitchen table. The programs and documentaries developed by PJTN are shared and educate on a mass level, principally the 30 minute television series Focus On Israel for which she serves as both host and executive producer. Today the series reaches over 2.6 billion potential viewers on a regular basis through a network of nearly 24 TV affiliates and satellite carriers, the latest being globally telecast Daystar TV. PJTN has produced three Emmy Award winning long form documentaries to date: The Forgotten People , Israel Indivisible and Boycott This!
Laurie has been appointed, awarded and recognized by her peers for her leadership, including:
  • The President’s Council of The National Religious Broadcasters, (NRB)
  • The “Top 100 People Positively Impacting Israel” by the Algemeiner
  • An Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology from the Latin University of Theology
  • The “Friend of Israel Award” by The Center For Jewish Awareness
  • The “Goodwill Ambassador to Israel Award” given by Israel Consul General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The unofficial 2019 run-off elections results:

Todd Weaver – 3,207 votes – 52.33%
Pete Weldon – 2,922 votes – 47.67%

Thank you to everyone who supported Pete Weldon in the run-off election.

According to the Supervisor of Elections for Orange there are 22,024 registered voters in the City of Winter Park. It is not broken down between party affiliations. In the run-off election held on April 9th, only 6,133 people voted. That is a voter turnout of less than 30%. As you know, the key to winning elections is getting as many people as possible to vote. Too many times local elections are ignored for the excitement of national elections, but there is just as much excitement voting for your candidate in a local election. Keep that in mind for the next election. Tell all of your friends and everyone you know - Get out and vote!
