I am excited to share an overview of our work last month, Participatory Budgeting and upcoming events in the community. We hope you will be able to attend our Garifuna Heritage Celebration tonight at 6PM at the Bronx Museum of Arts, as well as our Earth Day Celebration on Monday, April 22 at 2PM in Mullaly Park. CITY HALL
The New York City Council released its Budget Response to the Mayor’s Preliminary Budget for FY 2020 and the Fiscal 2019 Mayor’s Preliminary Management Report. This response reflects our priorities and focuses on ways to add additional revenue, achieve cost savings, increase efficiencies and invest in important programs we believe New Yorkers care about and rely upon. Thanks to our Speaker, Finance Chair, Finance Division Director, the amazing Finance Division and all my Colleagues for their input and hard work during this process.

During the month of April we will be preparing for the release of the Executive Budget. For a calendar of this months' hearings, please click HERE .
Jerome Rezoning Update
The Jerome Avenue Neighborhood plan was adopted in March 2018. To track the progress of this rezoning, please view the Neighborhood Rezoning Commitments Tracker .

BUDGET
The Discretionary Expense and Capital Funding applications are now closed. Please check with NYC Council Website for funding results at the end of June.

Participatory Budgeting (PB)
We would like to thank all of the community resident who voted during PB vote week. The Council is hard at work counting all of your votes. Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement of the winning projects. Here's to all of you!
COMMUNITY
We are proud to feature a few community highlights from the past month below.
Council Member Gibson would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the community residents, families, and friends for attending our annual Women's Herstory Month Celebration.
Council Member Gibson was proud to join St. Augustine Our Lady of Victory Chu rch, the Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan, and NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray for the Grand Opening of St. Augustine Terrance . This building features 112 units of affordable housing for individuals and families below 60% AMI, and we are especially excited to see 21 3-BR apartments included with amenities!
Council Member Gibson attends Palante Harlem's Town Hall Meeting on the Tenant Interim Lease program.
Council Member Gibson attends the 10th Pastoral Anniversary Rev. Lonnie Bryant, of the Featherbed Lane Presbyterian Church.
Council Member Gibson visits the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics.
Council Member Gibson keynotes the Graduation Ceremony of the MLK SUNY ATTAIN program.
The West Bronx says farewell to our Commanding Officer of the 46th Precinct, Inspector Wilson Aramboles. We thank him for his service and wish him well as he moves on to head the Emergency Services Unit.

Find your local  Community Board (CB)  and attend a monthly CB meeting. Apply to your local Community Board  HERE .

Find your local  Police Precinct  and attend a monthly Precinct Community Council meeting:

  • 42nd Precinct Community Council: Every fourth Thursday of the month in the 42nd Precinct Sitting Room at 7:00 P.M.
  • 44th Precinct Community Council: Every second Wednesday of the month at different locations at 6:30P.M.
  • 46th Precinct Community Council: Every third Tuesday of the month at 2120 Ryer Avenue, at 7:00 P.M.
  • PSA 7 Community Council: Every second Thursday of the month at 737 Melrose Avenue at 6:30 P.M.
