Dear Volunteers,

It was wonderful to meet so many of you at the Volunteer Recognition Event in Clare, Michigan earlier this month. For those of you who were able to attend, I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. As I mentioned in my remarks, this event provides the opportunity to fully recognize your tremendous contributions over the last year.
The effort that went into making the evening a success was truly herculean and shared by so many, but I especially want to recognize the volunteer involvement that made it special. Paul Jingozian eloquently led the toast to our fallen and missing comrades and the pledge of allegiance. Ron Springer’s tribute to late volunteer Paul Clement and the presentation of the volunteer-signed decanter by Alfonse VanHese to Paul’s wife, Patti, and his granddaughters Lilly and Alisa was deeply moving.

Dick Overton thoughtfully recognized one of our National Guard partners, retiring Sergeant First Class Terry Pickett. In his remarks CH Lepley of the Michigan National Guard discussed how the work you do as volunteers inspires and better equips him to do his job.

If you have any feedback or ideas for next year, please let me know. Planning for next year’s event will be starting before we know it! If you couldn’t make it this year, I hope you will be able to next year. It was an evening to remember. You can view pictures capturing these moments and more from the event lower down in this newsletter. Thank you for all that you do.
