CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE:
Greetings to all and welcome to the 91st annual April Newsletter. I want to thank everyone who attended our February Dinner Meeting themed Casino Night. We met in the Phoenix Club's Pavilion Room which was well-appointed with up-lighting and draped linens. It was a very nice setting for a night of casino gaming. We had a great time and there were some big winners! The TIPS meeting, which was organized by our Technical Committee Chairman Ragin Amrutiya, featured guest speaker Jose Gonzalez from RDAbbott who presented the "Application and Technology of Light-weight Silicone Rubber Materials."

TLARGI's Basic Rubber Technology course welcomed a new graduating class on March 14th. Instructors Rick Ziebell and Matt Rogers presented the 20-week course to 36 students. We thank Rick and Matt for their continued dedication to the class. TLARGI would also like to thank WACKER SILMIX ®CA, HEXPOL Compounding, M.R. Mold & Engineering, West American Rubber Co., and R & S Processing for opening their facilities for class tours. We'd also like to thank guest speakers Don Bowman and Kevin Kulbaba for bringing their expertise to the class.

Our next Dinner Meeting will be April 2nd at the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel. We'll start the evening with a TIPS Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Scott Van Remortal of Sibelco will be speaking on "Durable Non-silica Mineral Filler Options for Silicone Elastomers, Properties of Nepheline Syenite and History of Substitution as the Low Silica Alternative." This technical presentation will be followed by our dinner meeting, plus an entertaining performance from the Tap Room Quartet featuring our very own Chairman-Elect Graham Pence.

We're all looking forward to the Summer Conference which is just a few short months away. The Summer Conference Committee, led by Graham Pence and Sarah Aguilar, will be taking us to Paso Robles on the weekend of June 7 - 9. This is a new location for TLARGI and we're all excited for the new adventure. For more details about this conference, please click this link.

2019 is now in full swing and there's been a lot of work to put together a year's worth of meetings and activities. I want to thank the Board of Directors and all the Committee Chairs and Committee Members for their work and commitment to making TLARGI a successful organization.

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!

2019 Basic Rubber Technology Course

The evening of March 14, 2019, marked a very special moment for TLARGI when 36 graduates received diplomas for completing our Basic Rubber Technology Course. This course is foundational to TLARGI's history and exemplifies our mission to promote growth through educational and technical activities. Co-instructors Rick Ziebell and Matt Rogers worked diligently to provide improved metrics for student performance and continued to integrate new relevance to the 20-week curriculum. These 2019 graduates performed strongly throughout the course. New enrollment begins this fall. The class fills quickly, so plan to enroll early if you're planning to participate.
