THE RELEVANT RECAP
Dear Chamber & Community Friends,

Talks of Town - Cypress Creek Community [May 9] is a new program hosted by the Houston Northwest Chamber for the whole community. It is a challenge to get the word out about relevant news in the community, so we are providing quarterly forums by community leaders in four different "communities" in northwest Harris County. See the information below and join us!

For those that were not able to attend this year’s Economic Outlook Forum , you can find most of the speaker PowerPoints on the Houston Northwest Chamber website : www.HoustonNWChamber.org/EcoForum . What follows is a link to a bulleted, abbreviated recap primarily of the economic outlook presentations by Patrick Jankowski, senior vice-president of Research for the Greater Houston Partnership and Dr. Jim Gaines, chief economist for the Texas A&M Real Estate Center. All the presentations were relevant, and we are grateful to the presenters, sponsors and the committee for the excellent job that produced the “best Forum yet”.
Sincerely,
Barbara Thomason
President
Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce

A Legislative Update

Like Hurricane Harvey, something unprecedented has occurred in this 86th Texas legislative session, and yet seems to be going completely unnoticed. Two months ago, I wrote about the efforts of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce and its involvement with the Harris Plus Flood Solutions to move bills through the legislature to fund ongoing Hurricane Harvey recovery and future flood mitigation projects. Well, much has happened since February, and it is all good news...
