Maryknoll Lay Missioners - April 2019 mklm news
Easter invites us to new life and new love

Signs of hope: Lay missioners have a lasting impact on Cambodia's Deaf community
Through their work with the Deaf Development Programme (DDP) in Phnom Penh, Maryknoll lay missioners have helped Cambodia’s Deaf community to build a better future.
This fruitful, 20-year-long collaboration is the subject of the cover story in our new Spring 2019 issue of Voices of Compassion . The magazine, which has a new look and larger format, is currently in the mail, but you can get a sneak preview of the whole issue on our website .

The partnership is also the subject of a 5-minute video that recounts the many contributions of lay missioners over the years.
Ted's Talk

Dear friends,

As we approach the Easter season, we are reminded that the resurrection places Jesus in the midst of our lives, not in some heavenly world in which he beckons us to join him in eternity. Jesus is standing with us, accompanying us, inviting us to new life and new love.

The good news of the resurrection is that Jesus comes home to us, walks the road with us, and brings all his hungry, thirsty, sick, naked, imprisoned sisters and brothers with him. The resurrection puts us squarely in the heart of God’s mission to live our lives in ways that express Jesus’ inclusive love for us, for others, and for the whole of God’s extraordinary creation. This is “life in all its fullness.”

In these holiest of weeks, in this sacred season of Easter, may all of us discover (and rediscover over and over) that the resurrected Jesus is indeed in our midst, ever inviting us into God’s mission of love wherever we are and however we serve!

"I was hungry, and you gave me food."
(Matthew 25:35)

As disciples of Christ, we are called to live the corporal works of mercy. Maryknoll lay missioner Tim Ross not only brings sandwiches, water and " cafécitos " to people who are homeless on San Salvador's skid row, but he offers his friendship and hospitality in the Catholic Worker (El Trabajador Católico ) house that is his ministry.

During this Holy Week and Easter, please pray for and support Maryknoll Lay Missioners.
