All In This Together Vikes
|
|
Dear Columbus Academy Alumni, Friends and Retired Faculty/Staff,
We hope this April alumni newsletter finds you, your family and loved ones healthy and safe as we all face the unique challenges being presented by the current state of our world.
This edition is a little different than our typical monthly correspondence. You'll still find newsletter favorites -- Alumni in the News, updates from the school and a request for your Class Notes (we love hearing from you!) in addition to a new feature called "All In This Together Vikes," a place where you can find helpful tips, tricks and advice that we hope will provide you with useful tools as we find new ways to support one another.
This month we feature Kayleigh Rice, a member of our after-school programs staff and a professional hairstylist for the past 12 years. Kayleigh will walk you through how to cut your children's hair at home.
Faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends are all encouraged to share their insights, expertise or ideas that are just plain fun. Videos will be posted on the school's social media pages and featured in future editions of our newsletters.
If you would like to participate, please email Director of Alumni Relations Melissa Clarke Beckett at
beckettm@columbusacademy.org with information about the content that you would like to share with the Academy community. We look forward to hearing from you!

School News
Following the State of Ohio's guidelines for schools during these unprecedented times of physical distancing and sheltering in place, Columbus Academy established online learning for all grade levels on March 30. Near the end of a busy Spring Break for our administrators, faculty and staff, Head of School Melissa Soderberg sent out this message to all our families that was recorded in her living room by her son Phil, a current Academy senior. Please click on the graphic above to access an archive of all recent school communications related to the coronavirus pandemic, including this recent letter from Head of School Melissa Soderberg reflecting upon the Academy values that persist during our transition to online learning and the evolving times.
Families, alumni and friends should have received the Spring 2020 edition of our redesigned school magazine last month. Reimagined and retitled as Experience, the issue celebrates alumni, teachers and students in vibrant, colorful spreads while digging into the issues facing education and the trends affecting Academy students. If you did not receive one, or if you would like to request additional copies, please reply to this newsletter or send your request to info@columbusacademy.org. You can also access the online version by clicking here.

Alumni Programming Update
The Alumni Board is extending a final call for all Alumni to participate in its

Postponed: Alumni Networking Reception
The Alumni Networking Reception initially planned for Thursday, May 14, will be postponed.
We look forward to finding a new date to celebrate Michael Corey '01 as this year's Young Alumni Award recipient as well as learn from our expert panel members as they share insights on
