April 2020
Keeping in Touch + Online Shopping
What's going on with us...how are you doing?
I'm a few days(?) late on sending out April's newsletter! Honestly, I've just been moving a bit slower. On a personal note, at the beginning of the month I was actually moving to a new home! Besides the not-so-great timing, it also sucked up all my time & energy. Beyond that, the "shut down" of everything has been pretty draining emotionally. I've had ups & downs as I've tried to navigate the ever-changing small business financial support landscape, help staff figure out the complexities of unemployment, continue to sell online, check in with my kids doing remote education and stay in touch with family as we stay isolated & safe. Each day seems to bring a new challenge, but I also have seen some beautiful moments of caring & support. I thank all of you for your continued support through this unprecedented time!!
Also, I miss you all!! How are you doing? I love it when you call or email to just say hello! Maybe you just need to chat - I'm here for all of that and can also pass along messages to staff. I'm cooking up some ways to keep our community in touch, so stay tuned to more on that shortly!!

Consignment in the time of COVID-19
Obviously we're not taking consignment right now, and until we know when we'll be able to re-open, I can't be specific about what we'll be accepting when we do! We may also need to implement new consignment policies to deal with ongoing issues around health & safety, and I will definitely explain any of that before we re-open.

However, I'm sure many of you are using your stay at home time to clean closets & organize! To help you prepare for consignment as you go, a new series of posts with in-depth discussion of consignment best practices will be featured on our website in the coming weeks. So when we are able to take consignment again, you’ll help yourself - and us - by bringing in the items most likely to be suitable for consignment!
Topics will include:
  • Seasonality
  • Cleaning tips
  • Top-selling items
  • Preparing your order
  • Donations
  • Saying goodbye

And maybe more.... Do you have specific questions you'd like answered? Shoot me an email with your questions!

Visit & bookmark our blog page, where links will be updated as they go live.

Seattle Women's Assistance Fund Toiletry Donations
Prior to being ordered to temporarily close as a non-essential business, our SWAF volunteer Margaret & job training employee Tanela were able to put together over 200 toiletry kits with our remaining donated supplies!

Since we are closed to our usual SWAF appointments for free clothing, we've been distributing the kits through the existing food pantry at our next door neighbor Mt. Baker Baptist Church and a few other locations. If you or someone you know is in need, Mt. Baker Baptist will have their next food ministry on Wednesday, April 15th at 12:00 noon (you'll need to call the church line at 206-325-8335). Future dates are Wednesday May 6th & 20th at 10-11:30 am.

When we re-open we'll be sure to continue to collect donations for these essential supplies, as they continue to be a highlight and special bonus during our clients' visits.
We'll keep in touch as we know more about re-opening our store! The Governor's current orders are to remain temporarily closed until May 4th, but those orders may be extended. Stay tuned, stay healthy, stay home & keep in touch! - Lisa
