Reflecting on Anti-Bias Education in Practice: The Early Years
Defending the Early Years is pleased to recommend this important new film.
Produced by early childhood educators Debbie LeeKeenan and John Nimmo with guidance from Louise Derman-Sparks, the film puts teachers, children, and classroom practice at the center of anti-bias work.
"As we move toward greater awareness of identity, racism, equity and justice in education and the wider society, we recognize that many teachers have not had training or professional development in how to approach these issues with young children. This film makes a significant contribution to the early childhood field by inviting us to see the real and dynamic way that social justice issues can be a meaningful part of children’s education from their first days at school".
