Dear Members
The Annual Meeting of Equity Members is scheduled for April 21st at 7:00 pm in the Banquet Hall. I highly encourage you to attend. If you cannot attend, send me your proxy so we can be assured of having a quorum. We have five Members who have thrown their hat in the ring for two spots on the Board of Managers. I certainly applaud their enthusiasm to help make the Club the best it can be.
Thank you for your support to those Members who attended the annual Open House. The Departmental Staff worked hard the past winter preparing programs for the upcoming season. If you were not able to attend, please take a few minutes to speak to each department head and explore what is in store for 2021.
The golf course is now open, and we are starting to show signs of Spring. It does not look like we will have to deal with any flooding this year or growing turfgrass in areas that were damaged from previous floods. Our GCSAA Certified Superintendent, Doug Hausman, and the golf maintenance staff will be able to devote their full attention to grooming the course to the highest standards our membership has come to expect. But remember, it takes a little time and warmer weather for the grass to start actively growing. So be patient, and we will have superior conditions before you know it.
This past winter, we were able to achieve more tree work on the golf course. We did substantial work on holes thirteen, fifteen, and seventeen. This will definitely improve the playability of the course and, most importantly, improve the turfgrass's agronomics. The fairways and rough in these areas were struggling to compete with the trees and tree roots. Going forward, they should be much healthier and lush.
Casey and our golf professional staff have a great season planned for our golfers. We are now receiving a lot of new merchandise from vendors such as Peter Millar, Greyson, FootJoy, G/FORE, Belyn Key, Annika, and Adidas. Please stop by the golf shop and browse through our outstanding collection for golfers and non-golfers alike.
I am pleased to announce Josh Chwirka is returning to the Club as Restaurant Manager. Josh has been a beloved employee from the Members and will raise the level of service and events. With our outstanding Chef, Al Clark, and new Catering Director, Tammi Granaas, we expect to see the best year yet from our Food and Beverage operation. If you are looking to plan a party, wedding, graduation, business meeting and so on, please reach out to this incredible team.
This year we continue with our aggressive push in membership sales with our Membership Director, Jeremy Heizelman. Through our marketing program last fall and winter, we have thirty-five new members starting on April 1st. Joining a new club can be somewhat daunting at first, so let’s do all we can to make them feel included and part of our Dakota Dunes Country Club family. If you have a friend or neighbor who would be a great member, please give Jeremy a call.
I am very proud to be your General Manager and if you haven’t met me yet, please stop by and introduce yourself. I’m here for you.
