April, 2021

Dear Chamber Members-

Spring is a time for renewal and regrowth - warmer weather, spring blooms and maybe a visit by the Easter bunny. There is also excitement in the air as vaccines become more available and communities are beginning to once again book events for the Summer. Maybe these events will look a bit different, but a way to bring together community members and support our local businesses in a safe manner is a welcomed change. Here in Grafton, the Chamber is busy looking at ways to safely run our Farmers' Market, Ladies Night Out, the Food Truck Tour as well as hosting fireworks for the 4th of July holiday. It will be so good to see some of these events back in action and to see you all enjoying each other’s company in our great Grafton community.

No doubt that this past year has been a challenge for folks, but many will look back at the time as a resurrection of the family unit and a general slowdown in our lifestyles. It has also been a time for learning new social meeting platforms and hosting events virtually. For sure, the social media world has become important for retaining relationships, both personal and business alike.

Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest – Of course we all recognize these as social media platforms, but do you know how to use them to best reach your businesses target market? Our talented Chamber staff has put together some educational training sessions that can assist you while you try to navigate the ever changing virtual world. I know that I learned a lot during their second presentation “Social Media Marketing”. Missed it? Catch up by watching the presentations on YouTube – I’m sure that you will find value in the material – and also look to sign up for the third session held later in April. It will be time well spent!

Finally, please take some time to reflect on this last year and make a nomination for Outstanding Business, Business Person and/or Community Partner. Information about how to nominatee is included within this newsletter and can also be found on the Chamber’s website. We are asking that all nominations be submitted by Friday, April 16th so that recipients of the awards can be honored at this year’s Annual meeting, to be held late May/early June. More information to come!

Here’s to lots more warm and sunny days ahead! Wishing you a safe and Happy Easter,

Mary Karnitz
Chamber President
