I am proud to see so many in AAUW have continued to support programs to help us understand the issues surrounding diversity and to teach us how to become more inclusive, both as an organization and in life. This is another example of AAUW members tackling tough, timely issues in a non-partisan way. Over fifty members attended our Town Hall on Open Membership on March 10th. If you missed it, you can view it here. Look for more on branch and national programs below.
It’s time to GOTV! When you hear “get out the vote” do you think, “Are we talking about November already?!” Well, in AAUW April is election time at the national level, state level and in most of our branches. The upcoming National election includes two important issues to propel AAUW into the future – and your AAUW NJ State Board of Directors is asking all you to GOTV in hopes that New Jersey members will lead a landslide victory for the bylaws change in support of making AAUW non-discriminatory. See article below if you would like more information.
GOTV for AAUW NJ! On April 17, we hope to see you all at our AAUW NJ Annual Meeting in support of your state leadership team now and for the future (details below).
Let’s have a happy, active spring into the future.

AAUW NJ
Annual Meeting
Saturday, April 17th
10:00 - 11:30 am via Zoom
AAUW NJ Annual Meeting will be a shortened, virtual event again this year as we remain vigilant about ending the pandemic and continue to take advantage of Zoom facilitation of meeting across distances. While the official Annual Meeting on April 17, 10:00 AM will be primarily a formal meeting, we will include some time for catching up with each other after the meeting and we anticipate following up in May with more of our “unconference” style get-togethers to connect folks from across the state who have similar interests.
|
|
Before voting on the slate of officers for 2021-22, we will be voting on a revision of our AAUW NJ bylaws, to align with our strategic plan for 2021-22, that clarifies and simplifies our board structure.

Why Do You Donate to AAUW?
Why do you donate to AAUW? Nina Del Collo, our New Jersey AAUW Funds chair, has embarked on a project to learn why some members have donated to AAUW's Greatest Needs Fund. This fund allows our national organization to respond rapidly, in our communications and advocacy, to critical issues affecting women as they emerge, to get our work covered by major media outlets such as the New York Times, CNN and Fortune. Greatest Needs Fund is also what fuels our groundbreaking research and effective advocacy work to pass fair-pay laws and other key equity legislation.
Nina's first respondent is a fellow Nutley Branch member who shared some of her thoughts:
"It's important for women to look out for other women and be there for them."
"STEM projects are very important for girls."
"Young women should see what older women can achieve and learn from them."
"AAUW is a group of positive women who are making a difference."
Why do YOU donate?
