Message from Our President

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter and is loving this Spring weather. We are really excited about the speakers we have scheduled for our upcoming meetings and that we will be meeting in person after April's meeting.

This month, on April 15th, we will meet via Zoom - hopefully for the last time! Shane Mutter will join us from Colorado to explain the health benefits of CBD. We have also scheduled an Adventure to to celebrate the traditions of the St Joseph Altar at Shirley Juneau's Book Signing on April 25th at Benedict's Plantation.

I also wanted to thank you for the donations that were given to our Community Partners this year. Feel free to drop off more items at my office in Mandeville.

Remember to sign up for our meeting on April 15th and bring a guest! We are looking forward to seeing you this week on Zoom.

Thank You,
Julie Taylor
President

All About CBD - with Shane Mutter
Join us on Thursday, April 15th to hear from Shane Mutter, CEO of Seed2System, a company that "produces and distributes high-quality, all natural CBD products derived from hemp."
Haven't you been wondering about CBD? There are signs on shops everywhere! And you probably know someone who touts the health benefits of CBD.

What do you really know about CBD? Is it medical marijuana? Is it good for you? Why do people use it? Shane Mutter will join us from Colorado to share what he has learned since his business, Seed2System, started!

A quick look back at our March Zoom Meeting
Last month, Will Afton of the LSU Ag Center presented information about our Spring Gardens and fielded a bunch of questions from our group. If you need help with gardening, Will is there to help! Just contact him at the local office in Covington. (Click Here for the link!)

We also heard from Jinx about her World of Wonder non-profit. They have provided gardens for many of our local schools - and of course, this summer, she has organized a camp for preschoolers that could use some of our funding!
2021 Plans

We will meet again this month on Zoom to keep us safe, and because our speaker will be joining us from Colorado. We do plan to return to meeting in person in May (with appropriate social distancing, masks and hand washing)! Louisiana is doing well getting people vaccinated, and our whole membership is now eligible for the vaccine!

As of now, these are the monthly topics we have scheduled:

  • April 15th - Shane Mutter will let us know about CBD products on Zoom
  • May 20th - Dr. Grisoli, a local dermatologist will speak about our summer skin - in person at Benedict's Plantation
  • June 17th - Home/personal safety & scams (we are still looking for a speaker) - in person at Benedict's Plantation

Smart Women's Day Out will happen this year!

Later topics include:
  • Healthy eating/cooking
  • Increasing your creativity
  • Women’s Health

In addition. we plan to have a November meeting to Give Thanks to our Community Partners, and a Holiday Party in December. As the covid restrictions are relaxed, we will plan more Adventures and PEGs.
