Tidings APRIL 2021

Dear Friedens Family,
As we enter the Easter season, we are beginning to experience the reopening of the world if you will, from a global pandemic. We are not done with COVID however, we are much closer to a sense of normalcy than we were a year ago. If you find yourself still uncertain, exhausted and at times anxious then rest easy, as those are normal responses. The world we once knew has ended; nothing will be the same. Collectively, we have experienced a major stress event; a trauma and it is going to take us time to heal and rejuvenate. We believe with God's help the world will be a better place.
Jesus' disciples experienced great stress and trauma from the unjust and violent death of Jesus Christ. They hid in an upper room together, fearful, anxious and grief stricken. The world they once knew had ended. Nothing would ever be the same. Those hidden disciples were so full of despair and hopelessness that they forgot what Jesus had said to them at their last meal together: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where I am.”
Jesus understands our troubles and our feelings. He desires for us to trust him and to trust God. For each one of us, may this Easter season truly be a season of new life… a new beginning. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
We love you!
Resurrection Blessings,
Pastor Sonja and Pastor Dave

Happy Spring! He has risen, he has risen indeed!!
I hope that this finds all happy and healthy. The world has been through so much in 2020 - and 2021 has started with a much brighter future (not including the February weather event)! The widespread availability of a COVID Vaccine, the declining COVID positive case rates, and the decline of those COVID patients that require long-term healthcare - all are really good indications that we are getting close to returning to some degree of normalcy. We are not there yet - but we are making progress.
Your Church Council has been busy working with church committees to return as much of our church outreach as possible. We heard updates from the Worship Committee, Christian Education Committee, and the Evangelism Committee with positive news from all. The children's Easter Egg hunt on Sunday is a baby step to return to normal. The council has constantly monitored the COVID protocol and positive case rate on the local level and made some hard decisions that ensured that the congregation stayed safe during these trying times. Our commitment is to continue to monitor the virus and make changes as appropriate as we strive to return to one worshiping congregation again.
I mentioned committees and there are openings on some of the committees - if you are interested please contact any church council member and we will ensure that we pass your information on to the committee.
The building and grounds committee is working towards a building and grounds clean-up to spruce up the church for the spring. The details are being worked out to ensure that we can safely accomplish the task with the volunteers. This said, it will take most of us to ensure that when we return to our church - it looks as beautiful as ever. We certainly want to make sure the church looks GREAT on its 125th birthday!
Last, I hope you all will join me with a thank you to a couple of retiring Church Council member that have provided us with their time and talent. Michael Gallia and Jason Bloch have served their terms and served them well - please help me send them off with a HUGE thanks you for their service to our church! And - We welcome Jill Law and Delores Kraft-Longoria to your Church Council.
Stay safe and healthy my church family!
He has risen, he has risen indeed!

Friedens Early Learning
Academy News
We want to wish everyone a blessed Easter. The FELA students will be talking about why we celebrate Easter, while anxiously awaiting all the fun of our Easter party. During April we will also be celebrating Earth Day and taking care of our planet. We will learn about flowers and plants and all the other wonderful things that spring brings. While we still miss doing some of the activities we used to do, we are glad to slowly be returning to the ones we can do.
Once again, we want to wish everyone a joyous and healthy Easter. Thank you for your continued support of Friedens Early Learning Academy.

Six of us from Friedens Church met at Miss Pamela's home about 8:30 on 3/13 and wrapped it up at 11:00. She and her son were so very appreciative! When we had finished and took these photos, Kyle Bading led us in a beautiful prayer about appreciation of the many, many blessings God gives each and every one of us. We really can't say enough about the TEXAS Ramp Project. It has led this group of volunteers to have a unique and special bond with each other that we otherwise would have never developed together. This is # 56!!
We thank the TEXAS Ramp Project for the opportunity to be God's hands and feet!!
