The VSB has been asked to evaluate candidates for seven vacancies on the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

The Clients’ Protection Fund Board paid $134,080.85 on seven petitions for lawyer malfeasance.
The Supreme Court of Virginia Issued its Nineteenth COVID Emergency Order, in effect until April 19, 2021.
The Western District of Virginia Judicial Candidate evaluations scheduled for March 24 have been postponed due to work on vacancies on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Court of Appeals of Virginia.
Teleconference Videos and Audios:
Due to COVID-19, the VSB has had to cancel many meetings and events. Videos and audios from the Disciplinary Board meetings and other public meetings that have been held by teleconference may be viewed or listened to here.
Disciplinary hearings are public meetings and may be viewed as they occur by following the disciplinary docket and then checking the VSB calendar for the livestream details for a particular date.

We will soon be mailing Notices of Impending Suspension to attorneys who owe hours or fees for the 2020 MCLE year. If you have met your 2020 MCLE requirement by the time you receive the mailed 60-day Notice, please do not return it to our office—keep it for your records. Review your record now at the VSB Portal to confirm your compliance.
4:45 p.m. EST April 1 is the next reporting deadline. A $100 second late filing fee will be assessed for paperwork received after this date. Please review the Instructions for Compliance and report hours using the MCLE End of Year Report or Notice of Impending Suspension. 
The Noncompliance Fee and Late Filing Fees can be paid online at the VSB Portal with a Visa or Mastercard.
To avoid suspension, all 2020 CLE hours and delinquency fees must be received by this office no later than 4:45 p.m. EST May 28, 2021. Please use a verifiable delivery service such as FedEx or UPS close to the deadline. Postmarks are not considered.

Opportunities and Events
The virtual Leroy R. Hassell Sr. Indigent Criminal Defense Seminar, sponsored by the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Virginia State Bar, will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021. The event offers 6 hours of CLE with one in ethics and a national panel of experts in criminal defense law. Register here.
The 2021 Virginia State Bar Annual Meeting will be June 14-15. CLEs will be held virtually on June 14 & 15, with 9 hours of live CLE and 3 hours of recorded CLE programming: A full year of MCLE hours, including ethics.
