The Arnold P. Gold Foundation this June will recognize four healthcare leaders who embody the ideal of placing human interests, values and dignity at the core of healthcare with its 2022 National Humanism in Medicine Medal. This year’s medal honorees are: bestselling author and GHHS member Dr. Michele Harper, Bellevue Literary Review Editor-in-Chief and acclaimed physician-author Dr. Danielle Ofri; nurse leader and international anti-human trafficking activist Deb O’Hara-Rusckowski; and Steve Rusckowski, global business and healthcare leader and Chairman, CEO and President of Quest Diagnostics. Gold Trustee Dr. Kimberly Manning will be hosting, and the Northwell Health Nurse Choir will be performing. A new Gold Human InSight Webinar, “Tell Me More® at Northwell Health,” chronicles the successful implementation of Tell Me More® at multiple hospitals through a student elective at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Tell Me More® is a Gold communication tool available for licensing at your hospital or school. Hippocrates members of the Gold Partners Council receive a Tell Me More® license as part of their membership.

The nomination period is now open for the 2022 Pearl Birnbaum Hurwitz Humanism in Healthcare Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to a woman who exemplifies humanism and has advanced, through her scholarship, advocacy, leadership or work, the well-being of underserved populations in the healthcare arena.

In honor of nurses who have cared for patients around the world, Nurses With Global Impact, founded by Gold Trustee Deb O'Hara-Rusckowski, is holding its 6th Annual Celebration of International Nurses Day.
This year’s event will be on Friday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EST at the Hudson House in Jersey City. Registration is $125, and participants who attend the entire event will be awarded 2.0 contact hours. Registration closes on April 29th.

The latest edition of the Jeffrey Silver Humanism in Healthcare Research Roundup features 10 recently published papers on humanism in healthcare, compiled by Dr. Bharat Kumar.
These papers tackle important questions, including:

- What do patients want in their after-visit summaries?

Healthcare Burnout Symposium in June features many speakers from the Gold community of humanistic leaders

The Healthcare Burnout Symposium will highlight the factors that contribute to burnout and discuss how healthcare leaders and front-line workers can help their organizations address these critical issues. The objectives of the symposium include understanding the far-reaching consequences of burnout, discovering strategies for burnout prevention and mitigation, and learning how to identify burnout in yourself and others.
Gold Foundation Chief Operating Officer Dr. Elizabeth Cleek will be facilitating a panel on Friday, June 24.
