April 2022 Newsletter
Chairwoman Brittany Collins

On March 15, 2022, the BCDI-Atlanta Board of Directors elected its 2022-2023 Chairperson.
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Brittany Collins, Director of PAACT: Promise All Atlanta Children Thrive, a citywide alliance of public and private partners collaborating to improve learning, health, and wellbeing outcomes for Atlanta's youngest children and their families.

Brittany has been serving on the BCDI-Atlanta Board of Directors as an at-large member since January 2021. As Board Chair, she is fully committed to working to build the personal and institutional capacity needed to bolster the organization’s presence and reputation.

Brittany shared with the Board that she often reflects on Lilla Watson's words, "If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."

Applications are open for BCDI-Atlanta's 2022-2023 Board of Directors and must be submitted by May 15, 2022. Board members serve a minimum of one year and can be re-elected annually. If you applied in 2021, there's no need to reapply; your application is on file and will be revisited during this review process.

Georgia's 2022 Legislative Session has come to a close. We are thankful to everyone who stood by us to support our legislative priorities. We will continue to push HR917, which your calls and emails gained increased support from key legislators.

Georgia is facing essential elections in 2022, and we need EVERY vote to be counted! Critical changes have been made to the voting process in our state, so we need EVERY voter to check their status, polling location, and updated rules. Most of all, we need EVERY voter to make a voting plan NOW!

Thank you to BCDI-Atlanta Historian Debbie Hillman for presenting this information at our April 12th Affiliate Meeting and to the distinguished ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for your devoted partnership.
Early education program leaders and stakeholders are invited to join us for our next Leadership & Equity Advancement Network (LEAN) Gathering on Wednesday, April 27 @ 12:30-2:00 PM! Get ready to explore solutions for managing daily operations, time, and crises in child care programs. This month's session will feature tips from BCDI-Atlanta Expand ECE Fellow and Owner of A Better Day Christian Learning Center, Brigitte Willis.
