Important Message Regarding Your Energy Supply
One of your membership benefits is access to the chamber’s preferred energy consultant, Alternative Energy Source. They have worked as an advocate and advisor for Ohio businesses for over 30 years. During that time, their diligence has saved our members thousands of dollars on their energy bills.
They’ve informed me of an important change that will have a significant impact on energy bills for many Ohio businesses. I’m sharing this message with you today because I want to make sure you have the information you need so you can plan accordingly.
The Details
Volunteer Energy filed Bankruptcy Chapter 11 on March 25, 2022; United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio Case Number #22-50804. As a result, Volunteer electric and natural gas supply accounts have been terminated.
This affects both natural gas and electric supply accounts served through Volunteer.
Natural Gas
Any customer served by Volunteer has had their account returned to the utility standard retail service rate which is a variable rate, subject to market fluctuation and adjusted monthly.
If you had a fixed rate contract with Volunteer, need budget certainty, or want to control your costs, it is important you take the steps necessary to evaluate alternatives to the utility standard service rate.
Electric
Volunteer’s electric accounts have also been returned to the utility at the utility’s standard retail service rate. Unfortunately, market pricing is higher than your price with Volunteer before the bankruptcy. As such, carefully consider any renewal program before signing an agreement.
Acting now will allow you to secure a preferable contract rate and terms and ensure a smooth transition while minimizing the sticker shock.
What You Can Do
If you have already spoken with Alternative Energy Source about this, no further action is required on your part.
However, if Volunteer supplied your natural gas or electric accounts through March 25, 2022 or if you want to explore your price options, I am encouraging you to reach out to your dedicated energy Account Manager from Alternative Energy Source, Adam Freeman. He will present you with price and contract options and help you select the best one for your business.
There is no charge to you for the consultation.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Otherwise, you can reach Adam at 866-646-7322.
To learn more about Alternative Energy Source, you can find them at aes-energ.com.
Thank you,
Miranda Jones, Executive Director

Crestline, Ohio - The Galion-Crestline Chamber of Commerce and the Galion Safety Council are collaborating to host a "Crestline Shred It Day" in Crestline on Friday, April 22, 2022.
This FREE community event will be held from 10am - 12pm in the Avita parking lot behind Park National Bank and the Gazebo.
We encourage community members to bring up to 5 boxes (bankers' boxes) of your unwanted paperwork to be destroyed safely and securely free of charge. MARCA will be onsite, but boxes may be taken back to their facility to provide secure document destruction. Identity theft and fraud are a rational fear for individuals and businesses. By simply shredding old tax records, insurance records, bank statements, cancelled checks, health records, financial documents, and all other sensitive documents you can help stop identity thieves in their tracks.
