The Circle for Children Moonlight Soiree on March 25 proved to be a beautiful evening attended by 144 Circle members, family and friends.
As promised, Ivy Hall provided an intimate atmosphere with a wonderful dinner. The silent and live auctions truly offered something for everyone. Every single auction basket sold and party goers went home with fantastic items! Thank you to all you basket creators for your creativity and generosity.
There was also a “gold star” raffle with great prizes. One lucky member won a $500 gift card to Cumberland Diamond Exchange!
We raised more than $75,000 with the gala this year and the best news is that the Circle will be able to present our beneficiaries with a generous donation! The total amount we will be able to give will be announced soon.
A big thank you to all who helped make this event a success!
Gala Co-chairs,
Pat Iaffaldano

The Circle for Children welcomes new Junior member Jordan Nuckolls. She is a graduate from Johnston Community College and works in Soft Ware sale.
When Jordan is not working or volunteering you can find her cheering her favorites and national champs the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Dawgs. But most of all always in the company of her friends and family.
The best advise she has ever received “Be the type of energy that no matter where you go, you will always add value to the space and lives around you.”
Jordan’s most unique experience is being born on my due date and on Thanksgiving Day 1995! They also told my parents that if I didn’t interrupt the doctor’s Thanksgiving meal, they would give them a few thousand off the bill and I was born at 9:22 AM so they did in fact
give them a discount!
We welcome Jordan it is great to have you as part of The Circle for Children.
The Circle for Children welcomes new Junior member Emily Lemmy. She is a graduate of Florida State University with a BS degree in Finance. She is a financial advisor with Edward Jones.
When Emily is not working or volunteering you can find her at the Yoga studio.
Emily’s most unique experience is when she studied her first year of college abroad in Valencia Spain and Florence Italy.
Her favorite quote and best advice are “Others may question your credentials, your papers, your degrees. Others may look for all kinds of ways to diminish your worth. But what is inside you no one can take from you or tarnish. This is your worth, who you really are, your degree that can go with you wherever you go, that you bring with you the moment you come into a room, that can't be manipulated or shaken. Without that sense of self, no amount of paper, no pedigree, and no credentials can make you legit. No matter what, you must feel legit inside first.” - Chris Gardner.
We welcome Emily it is great to have you as part of The Circle for Children.
Emily was sponsored by Tricia Leuallen

The Long-Range Planning Committee has been working hard all year on the important job of finding our next beneficiary. As we head into the final phase of our research and analysis of the ten charities recommended to us by Circle members, we are excited to announce that we have narrowed the field down to 3 finalists.
City of Refuge (COR) provides a vast array of services, all under one roof, to help the poorest of the poor break the cycle of poverty. COR has a youth development program for children from birth through high school graduation, offering a full day preschool, after school programs for older children, summer camps, clubs, homework help, Sports and much more.
Dream Weavers is an organization located in Alpharetta that is committed to making a difference in the lives of foster children. They offer many programs to foster children such as extracurricular activities, academic help, and programs designed to build self-esteem, to name just a few. Dream Weavers also offers the “cottage, a visitation center that allows foster children a chance to visit with their biological families in a family like atmosphere.
Simple Needs’ mission is to improve the lives of those in need through simple acts. Some of the programs they offer include “My Birthday Matters” which provides birthday gifts and other supplies to homeless children; “Shoe Them Love” which ensures that disadvantaged children get new shoes and “Spirit of Christmas”, that fills the gap by helping Cobb County children who were unable to register for other local Christmas programs by providing them with gifts.
Over the next two weeks committee members will be visiting each of these worthwhile organizations in person, meeting with their founders or directors and touring their spaces. We look forward to presenting our findings to Circle members at our last general meeting of the year.

For those that were not able to attend the Patron Party, here is an update on our Scholarship Program!
The Linda Gross Memorial Scholarship fund is helping nine students for the 2021-2022 academic year. All of our Circle Scholars face varying degrees of financial need and personal
hardship. They include former foster kids, individuals raised by grandparents, and many who grew up with an absent and/or addicted parent
One was inspired by a teacher to pursue teaching. Another dreams of eventually earning a
graduate degree in public health to advocate for people like herself who suffer from chronic
diseases. They are studying BioChemistry, Education, Business, Coastal Ecology, Biology,
Environmental Science, Chemistry and Microbiology. In May one of our Scholars will complete
his culinary education, after starting this year with a 4.0 GPA and four pre-graduation job offers.
Our Scholars include honors college students and community volunteers. One helps to coach
middle school basketball. Many work part time while attending school.
They are also grateful for our support. In their own words:
“Your year in/year out support has been essential”
“It gives me one less thing to worry about”
“I just want to thank the Circle Members once again for this amazing scholarship. This
scholarship has been such a relief.”
“I would just like to thank the Circle Members for their generosity, it is truly a blessing.”
“I am so grateful for this amazing scholarship. I have been able to excel in school while not
having to worry about how to pay for books or classes.”
“Just want to say thank you for everything that you all have done for me, it is very appreciated.”
We are doing good work in Linda’s name and it would not be possible without the support of
members and sponsors. Thank you for your ongoing generosity.
