BUSINESS FORUM: EV CHARGING FOR YOUR BUSINESS
|
The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce and Louisa Forward Foundation held a business forum on April 3, 2023 at the Louisa Arts Center with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative President and CEO John Hewa, Chief Strategy, Technology and Innovation Officer Peter Muhoro and Chief Engagement and Consumer Officer Tracey Steiner, the local and national experts on EVs and EV charging.
The forum emphasized the growing importance of businesses accommodating the increasing popularity of EVs by providing charging stations for their customers, employees, and fleet vehicles. Some of the highlighted benefits of installing EV charging stations included attracting customers and employees, reducing emissions, and saving on fuel costs. They also discussed the different types of chargers available, including Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast chargers, and the charging times required for each.
The Charge Up Louisa initiative to install EV Charging stations was announced and further details will be released in late April.

March Recap
Shenandoah Crossings Resort was the host location for the morning session which included lunch and a brief tour. Wendy Berenson of Innerwill Leadership Institute led lessons and discussions on developing others through values based conversations. The sessions with Wendy focused on enhancing participant's communication skills, particularly through the use of questions. Participants created a plan for a specific conversation, and their homework is to have the conversation.
After lunch, the class traveled to Southern Revere Cellars for an informative tour of the operations for a small agri-business. Participants had the privilege of hearing from Josh Turner (read his bio here). He provided an inspirational message, exemplifying the importance of keeping values at the center of your communications and actions.
Community Action Project
Rebecca Burtram, Program Chair & Class of 2022, provided a mini lesson on how to increase your confidence prior to public speaking, and each team took a turn presenting about their partner organizations. The partnership organizations include Adult Community Education, Giving Words, and Journey Home.
Special thanks to our Leadership Louisa 2023 Title Partners: Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Louisa County Chamber of Commerce, Louisa Forward Foundation and Community Partners: Lake Anna Tractor & Hardware, County of Louisa, Dominion Energy, Kings Dominion, Hantzmon Wiebel, and Virginia Vermiculite.
