Funeral Information for the Right Rev. David Reed
Visitation for the Right Reverend David Benson Reed will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Friday, April 14th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm ET and Saturday, April 15th from 11:30-12:30 pm ET.
The liturgy for the Burial of the Dead will begin at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, April 15th at 1:00pm ET with Committal to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Clergy are invited to vest with white stoles.
If you intend to vest, please arrive by 12:30pm ET.
Christ Church Cathedral is located at 421 S. 2nd St. in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.

2024 Mission Funding Cycle
In announcing the 2024 funding cycle, the Mission Funding Committee seeks to invest in concrete and courageous missional partnerships responding to real human needs and concerns in our communities and neighborhoods.
Whenever appropriate, the Mission Funding Committee looks for opportunities that demonstrate a partnership between the community and a parish. These grants are not intended for ongoing operational support of a parish, except as necessary to support the missional partnership. The Committee is looking forward to hearing the amazing ideas for mission in this Diocese! The deadline for applications is June 1st.
To simplify the application process, applications may now be completed online via Google Forms. The application for Congregations is here, and the application for Agencies & Organizations is here. These Google Forms mesh seamlessly with gmail, and we encourage you to open a gmail account to complete the application if you do not already have one. Please contact missionfunding@episcopalky.org if you would like to have an application emailed to you directly.
If you do not have access to the technology to complete this application online, please format your responses according to the appropriate application found on the Mission Funding webpage of the Diocesan website and submit your completed application to missionfunding@episcopalky.org or mail it to:

New 2023 Dismantling Racism Training dates
Additional 2023 Dismantling Racism Training dates are now available and will be offered in two different formats: virtually via zoom as a one day session or as a one day, in-person event at various locations throughout the diocese. Important information for each format is listed below. Please carefully read the description of the event and the dates and select the program that best suits your needs and schedule.
In-person Training Days:
August 19, Our Merciful Saviour, Louisville (map link)
September 23, Christ Church, Bowling Green (map link)
October 28, St. Francis in the Fields, Louisville (map link)
The event will begin at 9:30 and end no later than 4 pm (times listed are in local times: Louisville-EST, Bowling Green-CST). Lunch will be provided as well as snacks throughout the day.
Virtual Training Day via zoom:
June 7 or
September 12
The virtual one day event will begin at 9:30 EST (8:30 CST). We will end no later than 3:30 EST (2:30 CST). We will have breaks throughout the day and a break for lunch.
The deadline to register for a training event will be three days before the session.
To foster optimum learning and conversation, the participant limit for each training day is 24. Please sign up early to be sure to get the time you want.

Racial Healing Commission Seeking Additional Trainers
The Racial Healing Commission is seeking additional trainers for the Dismantling Racism Program and recruiting persons who can assist with the technology for virtual meetings. Training for these positions will be provided. A small stipend will be offered. RACIAL HEALING PILGRIMAGE |

The Racial Healing Commission officially invites you to join others from the Diocese for a visit to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on Saturday, May 20th. We will meet at St. Francis in the Fields over coffee and donuts at 8:00am, leaving promptly at 8:30am and arriving in Cincinnati around 10am. All who attend must RSVP to Melodief@sfitf.org, as this lets us know how many tickets to reserve, and how many vans we will need for transportation. The cost for tickets is $14 (13+), $12 (60+), and $8 (3-12), unless we have less than 15 people, in which case they are $20. Following our time in the Museum, our group will eat lunch nearby (something quick), returning to St. Francis in the Fields by mid-afternoon. If you plan to attend but desire to drive separately, please still RSVP for our planning purposes. |

Summer Camp Sales Tax
Please note: The state of Kentucky has expanded the services on which it collects a 6% sales tax, including summer camp tuition. We are required to collect this new tax as part of your registration. You can read about the new taxes here and contact your local representative with any concerns. |

Hey there Summer Campers,
Spring is here and that means it's time to register for Super Heroes Camp at All Saints.
The dates this year are:
- Senior High (incoming 9th-12th graders): June 18th-23rd
- Primary (incoming 2nd-4th graders): June 25th-29th
- New Horizons (incoming 5th-6th graders): July 9th-14th
- Junior High (incoming 7th-8th graders): July 16th-21st
Deadline to Register: May 31
Camp at All Saints is a wonderful mix of activities, starting with age-appropriate experiential Christian learning and fellowship, daily prayer time both morning and evening, and closing Eucharist on the last day. Blended into that are loads of other fun activities such as music, skits, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, art, soccer, basketball, frisbee golf, messy games, sleep under the stars night (eat s'mores, tell stories), hikes, tie-dying, the dance, and more.
Camp is super fun and we are getting a great staff together. Now we need you to register so we know how many to plan for.

Rooted in Soil and Grounded in Faith: Resources for Sustained Creation Care
The Creation Care networks of Provinces IV and V are hosting a weekend retreat: Rooted in Soil and Grounded in Faith: Resources for Sustained Creation Care
This weekend retreat will engage those involved in ministries of creation care in deeper theological study, sharing of resources and ideas, opportunity for fellowship, nature contemplation, and spiritual renewal. The weekend event will include presentations, conversations, nature walks, and prayer on the beautiful grounds of the Sisters of Nazareth convent in Nazareth, Kentucky.
All those interested in creation care (from any province) are invited to participate. Cost: $50 (included meals. scholarships available)

It’s All About Love: A Festival for the Jesus Movement
Episcopalians everywhere are invited to register to join a churchwide festival of worship, learning, community, and action July 9-12 at the Baltimore (Maryland) Convention Center.
“It’s All About Love: A Festival for the Jesus Movement” will open at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 9, with a revival worship service featuring Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. It closes at noon on Wednesday, July 12, following a festival Eucharist preached by House of Deputies President Julia Ayala Harris. The Rev. Mariama White-Hammond will preach on July 10. Stepping Up with Termaine Hicks
It is well known in the Episcopal Church and beyond: Education for Ministry (EfM) changes lives. Most of the more than 120,000 people who have participated in the four-year theological education program will agree. Many will have a tale of transformation to share. Few will have a story as heart-wrenching as Termaine Hicks’s. Framed for rape in 2001 at the age of 26, Hicks was falsely incarcerated for nearly two decades. Termaine Hicks is the keynote speaker at the 2023 Education for Ministry Conference, sponsored by the School of Theology at the University of the South. Hicks’s keynote speech will take place on June 21, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. CDT. The presentation is free and open to the public and will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Lucie and Thornton, a play written by Helen Brinich Barnes and directed by Phillip L. Cherry Sr. will be performed at Calvary Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 25th at 7:30pm.
Pre-show at 7:00pm. A meet and greet talk back with the actors, playwright, and director will immediately follow the show. Donations accepted.
Lucy and Thornton Blackburn were two of the most influential figures in the history of abolition in the United States. Born to slavery in Kentucky, they escaped in the early 1800s and became prominent activists in the fight against slavery. Their story is one of determination and resilience. Find out more here. |
