April is finally here! The return of springtime is wonderful for economic development; hedged projects get dusted off, thawed ground allows for new construction, and new ideas and projects find their way to our organization. In fact, in addition to the 4 current announced projects we've got, we also have 6 unannounced projects and 7 working leads. We're excited for what this season holds.

The arrival of April also means a new slate of events and opportunities to get engaged. Today, April 4, is election day, so be sure to find your local polling place and make your voice heard. On April 20, we will be travelling up to Jefferson City for a "Christian County Day" of advocacy with our elected officials (more information below). And of course, be sure to check the calendars of our local Chambers of Commerce for upcoming community events too!

Christian County Advocacy Day

The Show Me team will be having a "Christian County Day" as we travel to Jefferson City to meet with elected officials on behalf of our partners and businesses. We are inviting interested investors and partners to join us in a day trip to the state capitol on April 20. We will meet in the parking lot of Furniture Row (1314 N Eastgate Ave, Springfield MO) at 6:45am and depart together promptly at 7am.

Show Me Christian County Full Board Meeting

The next Show Me Christian County full board meeting will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Fremont Hills Country Club. Investors, be sure to mark your calendars, and watch out for more information!

The Missouri Department of Economic Development received funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to assist with economic recovery efforts. The following grant applications are open or will open soon. Please follow the link for more information about these grants.

Nixa Fire Station #1 Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Nixa Fire District broke ground on a new Fire Station #1! This new station will be a huge asset to the City of Nixa. Big shoutout to Nixa Chamber for putting on the event!

Christian County's 40-Under-40 Program, hosted by the Ozark Chamber, is underway! We're proud to have our own Marketing Coordinator, Ethan Swick, participate as part of the 2023 class!

NIXPO Business and Community Expo 2023

Last month's annual NIXPO was fantastic! Big shoutout to the Nixa Chamber for always doing an incredible job with the event. We love seeing our partners and investors engaged in our chambers and the community!

Did you know that there are nearly 28 million acres of farmland, making up roughly 95 thousand farms in the state of Missouri? That's the second most in the US!

In 2021, Christian County saw huge contributions to the economy through forestry, food processing, and agricultural support. The Missouri Department of Agriculture reported that nearly 3,800 jobs in Christian County are related to agriculture, contributing to $121.6 million in total value added to the agricultural economy.
