April Showers Bring May Flowers, I grew up with that saying, and the joke was: What do Mayflowers Bring? Answer: Pilgrims. As funny as it was as a kid, these days I think about what April brings us beside the rain. April ushers in Spring. We sometimes get great weather. When we do, make sure you celebrate it. We also get Good Friday and Easter. Some might say it’s not the “two big” holidays, but for others, it is number one. Regardless of your holiday choices, I think we can agree that April reminds us that good weather is right around the corner. And that is cause for celebration.
The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce April events will be the 2023 Multi-Chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon and Expo which is a well-attended event with great networking opportunities. You should also attend the LINCT networking meeting. These events and meetings will put your business in front of other business owners.
Some events to look forward to in the upcoming months will be the Andy Warhol Exhibition at the MAC which will bring a lot of visitors to DuPage county and also Lisle. Keep an eye out for Lisle business’s participation in adapting Andy Warhol’s style into their businesses. The Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event will be taking place on June17th and will have tie-ins with the Andy Warhol. The Golf Outing will also be taking place this summer. It is set for July 18th at Seven Bridges Golf Club. This is a full-blown production that takes a lot of time and effort from the Chamber Staff to put on. Cheers to them and also to Molex for being the Presenting Sponsor. Also, stay tuned as I get businesses that want a shout out on what they are doing and I will put it in next month’s column.
Lisle has some exciting economic development opportunities in the works with zoning applications on file with the Village, including development proposals for the corner of Main and Ogden as well as IL Rt. 53 at Summerhill (former Marriott Hickory Ridge). I encourage you to stay tuned for upcoming public hearings on these development proposals.
There’s a lot of exciting things in the works. Stay tuned!

2023 Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Information | |

The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to high school students graduating in 2023. Awards are based on several considerations that include academic achievement, community involvement, and need.
Application deadline is April 7, 2023 by 4:00 p.m.

Application Requirements
- Applicants must either have an immediate family member who is a member of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce (individually or through corporate affiliation), or they must have a Lisle mailing address.
- Applicants must plan to attend a technical or trade school, business college, or a two- or four-year college or university.
- The application packet must be fully and legibly completed.

The application must be received at the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce via email submission (info@lislechamber.com or jill@lislechamber.com); delivered in-person to the Lisle Area Chamber office or by U.S. Mail postmarked (925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle IL 60532) by 4:00 p.m. on April 7, 2023. The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce assumes no responsibility for application packets that are not correctly submitted. Scholarship Committee
The Chamber's Scholarship Committee is meeting to choose deserving high school seniors for the Chamber Scholarships. The Committee reviews and chooses the Scholarship winners. The Scholarship Committee will be meeting on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chamber office located in Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue, Lisle. The deadline to join the Scholarship Committee is April 14th.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Elvis Leon
This month’s featured Ambassador is Elvis Leon of the Elvis Leon Agency with Farmers Insurance. Elvis has recently joined the Ambassador Committee and has been a Chamber member for almost a year. In addition to the Ambassador Committee, Elvis is involved with the LINCT Committee. Elvis enjoys being an Ambassador because it is a great opportunity for him to connect with more business owners. He also can learn more about Lisle and the activities that are happening the area. It has helped him create brand awareness and draw new clients to his agency. Elvis keeps learning how to leverage the resources available to help him to market his Agency with job posts and informational seminars.
At the Elvis Leon Agency with Farmers Insurance, Elvis’s agency specializes in all personal and commercial lines of business. They handle all different types of insurance including Auto, Home, Rental/Landlord; Life & Annuity; Business Owner Policy, General Liability, Umbrella, Workers Comp, and Commercial Auto; Bonds and more. They also handle home loans and Elvis’ wife, Veronica Leon, is a Loan Officer. Elvis has been in this field for over 10 years.
Elvis lives in Bartlett with his wife Veronica, and they will soon be celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters, Brianna who will be 15 in July and Natasha who just turned 10 as well as their beagle Betsy. Elvis enjoys Basketball and Football as well as networking and establishing connections with people. He also enjoys coaching and leadership, public speaking and sharing the word of God.
Elvis’ favorite bits of wisdom to share are envision the level of success you want to achieve each day. Take action and work towards it with all your heart and passion. Success is the accumulation of all the wins and achievements and there are no excuses or explanations, just get it done!

The Chamber newsletter is a great way to get your company name seen. When our members send us something special happening or exciting news about their business, we will feature it in our Chamber Raves section. The Chamber Raves section features special recognition of the member or the business. Send us your accolades so we can share your news, claudine@lislechamber.com. If you have an event coming up, you can add it to our Community Events calendar on our website. Visit our website and click on the “News and Events” section and then click on “Submit an Event” and enter your event information. Once we approve the calendar entry, it will be listed on our Community Events calendar. Both of these are free benefits of being a Lisle Area Chamber Member.
We are looking forward to more than 250 attendees representing 24 chambers participating in the Annual Multi-Chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon & Business Expo on April 6th. The keynote speaker will be Leslie McGranahan, Vice President and Director of Regional Research, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. There will also be networking with the 36 expo tables of chamber businesses before the lunch and speaker. We thank Larry Forssberg, Executive Director of the Westmont Chamber for taking the lead on this always informative platform. In May’s newsletter, I will share what she spoke about for the economic trends.
Don’t forget to have your high school senior apply for the Chamber scholarships. The deadline for the scholarship application is Friday, April 7, 2023 by 4:00 p.m. To be eligible you must live in Lisle, attend a high school in District 202, 203 or 99, or be a child of a parent from a Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce member.
