Premiers & Provincials
Almost at the finish line! With only 13U & 14U VA Provincials remaining, the busy 2023 club season is coming to an end. Congratulations to all the Premiers and Provincials medalists. A big congratulation to our All-Stars winners too!

This club season broke the records for number of team registrations. We had 28% increase in registrations compared to last year. Despite its challenges, however, we really enjoyed providing the platform for such a big number of athletes to participate in the sport they love. We hope they and their parents enjoyed the events too.

To play, please scan the QR Code at your Provincial Championship venue. The on-site venue coordinator can help you find the poster to scan & play!

Funds raised by this raffle will go towards supporting our Team Alberta programs.

Call For Nominations - Awards

The Mikasa Achievement Awards are presented to athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to volleyball in Alberta for the indoor club season and beach season. This year's Volleyball Alberta Annual Awards Ceremony will be held on June 24, 2023 in Calgary.

2023 Provincials Pre-Order Update

VA's 2023 Provincials T-Shirt & Hoodie are custom pre-orders only! Thank you to all the teams that submitted and purchased their orders by the deadline date.

Team orders are available for pick up at the Provincial Championship Tournament venues.

VA's Pop-up Shops will be open on the Saturday of each event from 10am-4pm at Rally Pointe in Calgary and at Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton. Our online shop is open 24/7.

Volleyball Alberta will be offering three youth beach program options this summer in Edmonton at our John Fry Park Beach Volleyball Courts.

Volleyball Alberta Summer Camps are back!!!!
It is that time again! Volleyball Alberta is currently offering 2 locations of Summer Camps:

July 16-23 in the beautiful town of Sylvan Lake, Alberta having the opportunity to play Grass, Beach, and Indoor Volleyball! An overnight camp for anyone ages 12-16 who wants to learn deeper about the sport, enhance their skills or have an amazing Volleyball Camp experience in one of the best towns in Alberta! This overnight camp includes accommodation, 3 meals a day, snacks, a 5:1 ratio of amazing coaches to athletes and so much more!

August 8-11 at the Saville Centre in Edmonton, Alberta! For the 3rd year in a row Volleyball Alberta is having our Edmonton Volleyball Camp! This 4-day camp (8am-4pm) is jam packed with detailed sessions to improve all skills and transferring those skills into gameplay, amazing Camp Activities to get to know your peers on another level and a 5:1 coach ratio to ensure everyone gets the focus they need to better their skills and find even more reasons why they love the sport of Volleyball!

NEW STAFF
Volleyball Alberta Welcomes a New Full-time Staff

We will be welcoming Ben Saxton to our VA Staff as our Manager, High Performance & Leadership as of May 1, 2023. Most of us know Ben by reputation, as he competed at the 2016 Olympics in Beach volleyball. We are very excited to have him share his drive, vision and talents with the volleyball community in Alberta.

MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION
2023 Membership Registration (season: Sept. 1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2023)
Volleyball Alberta requires Players, Coaches, Referees, and Club Staff to become members prior to registering and participating in any Volleyball Alberta or affiliated Club program and event.

Are you going from indoor to beach? If so, please make sure to add the Beach Membership Type to your existing Sportlomo Account > Volleyball Alberta Membership > Member ID > upgrade/add category.

Volleyball Alberta's event and program registrations have membership prerequisites. To sign up & register or to upgrade/add the beach membership type to your existing Volleyball Alberta Membership > Member ID, please follow the instructions in this guide:


Please note: Participants upgrading their membership and adding multiple roles pay for the more expensive role at a differential rate (upgradable membership type). Already paid fees will discount from indoor to beach; but, only if upgrading/adding the new category to your existing active Sportlomo member ID. Make sure to follow the instructions in the guide to avoid overpayments.
VOLLEYBALL CANADA EVENTS
Only 5 days to this big event! Volleyball athletes from across the country, including girls and boys age groups, 14U to 18U, hit the courts to battle for national glory.

VC has introduced a new, nine-day National Championship event in 2023, hosted in Calgary, Alberta. 16U girls and both 17U and 18U age groups play across three separate tournaments at the Olympic Oval and the University of Calgary.

The 14U Nationals will be hosted in Ottawa, Halifax, and Winnipeg, with 15U and 16U boys heading back to Edmonton. Regina will host the 15U girls on the final weekend of Nationals.

2023 ParaVolley Pan America Zone Championships
Edmonton is ready to welcome the 2023 PVPA Zonal Championships. This is the Olympic 2024 Qualifier and a great opportunity to watch sitting volleyball in person, in just a few weeks (May 9-13)! Your support would mean the world to both the Canada Men's & Women's teams! Purchase your tickets HERE by May 1st.

2023 ALBERTA SUMMER GAMES
Location: Okotoks & Black Diamond
Date: July 20-23 2023
Age Group: 15U & 16U (Athletes born Sept. 1, 2006 - Dec. 31, 2007)

All athletes trying out need to register prior to attending. There is a $25 fee and the athletes must be members of Volleyball Alberta with a minimum of the youth development membership.

Please Note:  Athletes who are members of the Team Alberta Indoor Competition Program are not eligible to participate in the Alberta Summer Games due to the conflict between the Canada Cup and the Alberta Summer Games

For the Alberta Games, the province is divided into eight zones. Participants compete at zone playoffs, held prior to the Alberta Summer Games, where they earn the right to compete as a member of the zone team. Each zone will be allocated one team per gender (2 athletes).
