Directors' Corner
Greetings Siblings in Christ-

Do you realize how unique Savannah Presbytery is in that we provide programing such as Faith Enrichment Conferences, The School of the Laity and Summer Camps for faith development?

We have been blessed to be a blessing to the many adults, youth and children who have experienced the richness of these programs through the last many years. Over 350 participants have graduated from the full two-year School of the Laity program and hundreds of participants have attended both our Faith Enrichment Conferences- formerly known as the Leadership Development Conference- and our summer camps.

While these ministries are a wondrous gift, they are only so if we are intentional about promoting them to our congregations and encouraging our members, friends and neighbors to participate in them to reap their benefits!

This passage from the Gospel of Mark comes to mind: “He said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under the bushel basket, or under the bed, and not on the lampstand?” (4:21)

Prayerfully consider who you might extend an invitation to or what program from which you, yourself, could benefit and get involved. Registrations for the School of the Laity and Summer Camp are open now. Spread the word by personal invitation, forwarding our monthly emails to your membership and friends and posting the events on your bulletin boards and church communications.

Let’s each do what we can to shine our lamp!

Peace,
Marty Susie

School of the Laity
Most of us have heard of the School of the Laity program but…
Did you know -
  • That as a participant you will learn Biblical, theological, and denominational lessons from both professors and pastors that are geared for NEW learners? In addition, you will meet and build relationships with other learners who share the same desire to learn and strengthen their faith!
  • A new small group (Class of 2025) is forming NOW to start the full SOL Program this June? Visit www.savannahprebytery.org for how to take part!
  • You can attend classes in-person at Epworth-by-the-Sea or ONLINE via Zoom for convenience? Each session we have classrooms where both in-person and online folks participate together!
  • There are “Elective Classes” offered each March & October? These are great opportunities for both NEW FOLKS to try out the School of the Laity and for SOL GRADUATES to return for additional learning- with no homework assignment!
  • That people feeling called into ministry as a Commissioned Lay Pastor can take SOL courses to help meet some of their requirements? The Committee on Preparation for Ministry can help!

The Results Are In!
The evaluation results from attendees of the 2023 Faith Enrichment Conference are in and are overwhelmingly positive and encouraging! With comments of “Thank you for an inspiring time!” and “Our bodies are full and our spirits are full- I feel we are motivated to go out” our Faith Enrichment Committee is excited to plan for our next conference taking place on Feb. 24-24, 2024.

For those who were unable to attend this year’s conference -
WE MISSED YOU!
We want to do everything in our power to share this transformative experience
with the widest audience possible and are
asking YOU to complete a brief survey
to share the obstacles that prevented your attendance.
Thank you for helping us!
