The Final Countdown to Protect the Little Qualicum River

Thanks to you, we have made significant progress in our $2 million campaign to raise funds to purchase 36 acres of land around the Little Qualicum River – but we are not there yet.

We need your help to raise the last $125,000 by April 30.

And we have big news! We’re thrilled to announce that thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, all donations made until April 30^th will be matched to a maximum of $25,000, meaning every donation has double the impact.

The Bog is Saved – Long Live the Bog!

On March 20 The Nature Trust officially announced the successful purchase of 235 hectares of ecologically important land near Prince George. The bog is located within the Meteor Lake Wetlands – one of the largest and most biodiverse wetlands in the Upper Fraser River watershed. The property is located within the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Now conserved with support from the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, the Prince George community, and many generous donors the land will never be sold or developed.

We are living through the twin crises of our time - biodiversity loss and climate change. With an historic commitment made at COP15 to protect 30% of nature by 2030, and more extreme weather events being witnessed each year, the momentum to protect mother earth is growing. So much so that April’s Earth Day has expanded to become Earth month!
